I know this isn't a big deal to you guys, but it's pretty awesome for me.

I was MVP of the quarter for the Best Buy I work at and my "prize" was a DS Lite. Yeah, I was pretty pumped up =) Has anyone else ever gotten a recognition award as cool as that from their job?

I've been playing New Mario Bros, Mario Kart, and Brainage all week... next week it's Metroid Pinball and Yoshi's Island. Look forward to getting in on Game Night this week!
Thanks for the nice write up Kyle! God knows that the reader posts aren't worth reading on this site.
I work in Home Theater at a Best Buy in the Pittsburgh area and would like to contribute to the thread. I don't feel that you can't fully blame the employees for simply not going "above and beyond". Best Buy does very little to educate it's employees on the workings of the products it sells, a problem which is compounded during the seasonal holiday hiring period. Out of roughly 20 employees in home theater maybe five have a understanding on the workings of the products we sell.

I work hard to make sure that my customers have a good understanding of HD before they're out the door, and my managers have complemented (and rewarded) me for my hard work, but the fact remains that most of the employees CAN'T educate the customers because they don't posses the knowledge to do so.

The solution? Offer more pay to draw competent talent, plain and simple.
I already bought a trip to Vegas for my Dad and I to go along with this... I'll set this up in our room so we have something to weigh down the stacks of cash we're sure to win
How long till we see two-way CableCards implemented by Cable Companies? I'd love to ditch my box, it takes up space on my AV Rack, but I won't give up OnDemand.
"Still waiting for it to come into Dallas. It's on the fringes. Does anyone know what the hold up is? Are they waiting for approval from the city or something?"

"It's here in NoVa...
*If* you have a stand alone house.
I'm in a condo complex and they haven't been able to split it up for 'stacked housing' yet."

The reason it's in the burbs' is because that's where the wealthy people live. Naturally they're going to offer a new and expensive service to those who can afford it en mass. That may seem shitty but it has to be done. Comcast has had a large marketing campaign going on here in Pittsburgh trying to get it's customers to call their representatives to stop Verizon, it's awfully hypocritical of them. The same thing was down with Cable internet when it was first being adopted, the rich communities and businesses got it first and then, once it was perfected and cheaper, it was adopted everywhere else. The rich folks get first stab at it, that's just life. So, hurry up Mr. and Mrs. Moneybags, buy up that FIOS quick... I'm getting impatient here in the city.
As far as I can tell it's like back in the 90's when you could connect your computer to the SETI program to help decode their data. In this day of broadband we'll cure cancer in no time. Well, hopefully before we find the aliens.
How did Caddyshack look? Boy, oh boy do I wish I had caught that =)
Mine used to drop the sound all time time... turns out my splitter (one to the modem one to the DVR) had a loose cable, i tightened it up and havne't had that problem since.
http://www.hdbeat.com/2005/11/12/hdtv-buying-guide-xbox-360-edition/ There's a lot of confusion out there in the HDTV world, anything to lift the fog is appreciated.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for the best geotagging camera currently available. The most important feature for me is the accuracy of the GPS module, so any hard specs on satellite receiver would be really useful. Thanks for your time!"
