cool feature, but i fail to understand why I would want to utilize this over my blu ray enabled netflix account. oh yeah, plus the HD selection on PSN (which i can watch while downloading) is far more robust than the sub-SD catalog offerings from netflix... I just don't get it.
" Samsung used to purchase the same grade of video processors as Sony but since late 2007 they have been buying the same grade as you see in a lot of lesser brands and their TV's performance reflect that..."

for the record, which samsungs are you referring to? for the past 2 years they generally have employed excellent video processing through out their entire line ups .
@ Steve,

uneven wear is also an old argument as this can happen to plasma, lcd, or crt.
3D- schmee dee. how were the blacks? have they become kuro-esque?
@ chance,

"...many people like to have the latest and greatest with all of the bells and whistles and that's why people would rather pick up an LCD over a plasma."

i beg to differ. people like to pick up lcds over plasmas because of all the ludicrous marketing from samsung and sony (i.e. LED tvs, contrast ratios). oh, and dont forget big box retail geek sale-boys who kept those ridiculous plasma rumors alive all these years. people still think they need to recharge their plasma cells once a year!
you would think so, but look through their review archives and you'll see some pretty diverse articles, including the review of the samsung luxia 8000, which they also raved about.
did you even read his question? he said he has a $1700 budget!
he meant to say theyre the first LCDs ever to boast a THX certification...
the xbr4 was about the best lcd ever made... back in 07'.... just under the the samsung 61, 65, 71, and 81 series that same year....
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
