Well, I'm late to the party but I believe everything was said at one point or another. Jim, I think you summed it up pretty well. Squiggle, I can't believe the anti-Tosh sentiment either. I have NO idea why engadget doesn't run similar stories on Sony upconverters saying how "stubborn" they are. Fact is, as long as there is a market for them, all manufacturers will continue to sell them. And if Toshiba's product is better, who is the consumer going to choose? It's really quite simple though people are so blinded by Blu that they lose all rationality.

Does anyone really think people were scooping up those 1k Pioneer Blu-Ray players? There is very little (IR port) incentive for people to choose a standalone player over a PS3 and even the 2nd best option appears to come from Sony (S350). Blu fanboys love to laugh at the millions Toshiba lost in HD DVD and then call them 'stupid' for not jumping in to another hi-def format with question marks. Toshiba saw decreasing profits in DVD and wanted to pioneer the next generation of physical media. They failed. But decreasing profits are still, yes, profits. There is absolutely no reason for them to want to hasten the demise of DVD now that Blu has won. This article is a little dated, but not much has changed since then: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/bluray-market-too-reliant-on-the-playstation-3/?biz=1

What makes the most business sense again? I'd like all the tosh-haters to post something, anything that backs their position that Toshiba is missing out all the cash Blu producers are raking in. Waiting...
How much is the media these days?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
