"The most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” There is such a word, however."
cool, thanks Nathan, I will check them out.
VERY NICE!

I just ordered one, I am getting it for the 7.1 analog out. Can anyone recommend any high quality cables to use? I haven't used analog cables in a long time so I need to get new ones.
Anyone know when the Sony BDP-S550 is coming out? All I can find is "Fall 2008", anyone have anything more solid?

I am waiting for the S550 to get a BR player for the analog 7.1 out, profile 2.0, and all the other good stuff it will have.
Well here is my vote for MythTV.

It is nice looking, free, and easy to use.

If you don't want to tackle Linux use something like MythDora. It installs and sets up everything for you.
Hmm, if they were going to get rid of profiles because it was causing issues/delays with new features, what are we going to miss out on because R&D time will be spent on profiles?
In case you REALLY want to know why Netflix killed profiles:

"The Netflix site was designed without profiles, then features were added continuously for a few years, then profiles were added, but with minimum disruption to existing features, rather than a ground-up redesign, then a few more years of features were added over the top.

Now in some ways its too messy and its slowing down our ability to change and add new features, so a lot of investment is going into cleaning up the code. Part of that cleanup is to simplify and re-implement things so that we can get more interesting and advanced things done more quickly in the future. For this feature that is used by a percent or two of the user base, it will make cleanup a lot faster by removing it."

Same here, Member since April of 2000. Never seen any signs of throtting. I am on the 4 disks for $14 or so per month. (Had the same plan since I started)
"To those who think it is a waste of money. I bet you have never been robbed in your home either but still have locks on the doors and windows......."

True, I do, but that is what a complex password equates to..locks on the doors and windows.

This device would be equvilent to bars over the doors and windows.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
