ve vill execute and it vill hurt! Really Nokia? The ship is sinking and all you have a hollow promises about some redesign of an ancient UI with no idea of what typography means. And to make things worst Samsung and Sony's version/modifications of Symbian actually deliver much of what is being promised here. And we are not even talking about Android, iPhoneOS, and WinMo 7.
@yerand this is complicated for most users to use and while the idea might seem really cool this is like a half baked research project. These guys really need to do some research on UI design and usability. Text interface is BAD and slow from a perception stand point. Also they seem to have forgotten completely that some people are left handed and in fact sometimes even right handed people use their phone with their left hand.
Oh and this device DOES NOT adjust to your. Just like any other device you have to adjust to it and there is no way around that. The point is to make something SEEM natural and easy to learn. Anyway the bottom line is this seems like a mod for Android and actually I am offending Android with that statement.
unfortunately this looks nothing like the iPhone killer that everyone has been looking for. I really hope that this is not representative of the final product. The UI has this acquired taste feel to it and that's usually bad for sales. Don't get me wrong, I was really hoping that Sony can offer something better than an iPhone but unfortunately this seems too much like work in progress and also the highly customized Sony interface would not blend in with the controls of the 10,000+ apps for Android that already exist.
You didn't pay the full price even for the pay as you go option. O2 subsidizes the phone a little and they add the free internet option as long as you top up at least £10 per month. Oh and btw o2 has never had a truly unlimited internet usage plan. It is only called unlimited but in fact it does have a limit. A fair usage policy applies and in this case it is something like 3gb per month. Also you are not allowed to tether and if you want to do so here is an additional £9 charge ( could be 10 though ). So it's mostly smoke and mirrors on both orange and o2. Maybe vodafone will be different but will see next year. If nothing else they should have a free iphone with plans over £35 which is way better than both o2 and orange.
Anyway this payg 12 month period totally sucks. At least the blacksn0w unlock works for now but it is quirky at times.
Hum this is a flow any way you look at it. It is actually a terrible business decision and is a monstrosity the likes of which you see only in early prototypes. I don't care if the computer starts up in 30 secs. At that price point it is definitely oriented towards business people only no self respecting business person would be caught dead with this thing. It is but ugly and quite possibly very dysfunctional and it you type on it for extended periods of time I would imagine that your wrist will start to hurt because of the steep angle. Seriously Dell did you hire monkeys to review your designs?
I am not defending Apple at all but why should they start selling a standalone OS? It's up Apple's execs to decide what they should make and what they should TRY to sell. The fact that you and a few others wish Apple would start supporting more platforms is nice but really doesn't mean squat.
Did you guys really expect Apple to stand still and NOT protect their assets when they are being constantly attacked by companies like Palm and Psystar? Plus Apple is about to release a table with is more or less a netbook. I most likely does not have an Atom CPU but is something similar so it makes a lot of sense to lock Atom out. Don't get me wrong the news of Atom being locked out of SL is both great news and quite bad ones. For one the tablet is very likely to be running a full blown version of the OS but on the other hand Apple is most definitely going to position it in a price range above that of netbooks if they are making sure that netbooks are nor supported.

I really wish Apple would focus a little bit more attention on budget computers but then again my wish really doesn't change the company policy ...
well look at it this way, if orange falls short then there is always hope for vodafone. And in all fairness you couldn't really get any worst than O2.
that is definitely one of the coolest applications I have ever seen ( not just for the iphone ). Nice used of the available hardware.
I fail to see what it the difference between this and the 50 model which btw currently retails for about 150 quid ( apart from the slightly higher retail price ). The system is nice but the wireless attachment is a bit large for my taste. Also both PDX-30 and PDX-50 have 2x15w speakers so it's quite reasonable to expect this to be the same. And that color must be a mistake!
most of you are overlooking one major issue - the way you hold the new mouse. The correct way to position your hand on a 2 button mouse with a scroll wheel is to hold it between your thumb and pinky. However most of the older user find this quite awkward and tend to move their middle finger between the 2ndary button and the wheel. Well here you don't have to do that since the wheel is everywhere on top of the mouse. Hence all those users will really like the new mouse. It's really easy to bitch about how shitty apple design is because it's different and sometimes goes against the grain but this time Apple has actually done a good job. Also there is a tactile feedback when you press on the mouse ( i think ). You know how the new glass touchpad had no buttons yet you can click it and it does feel just like a click? When this is based on the same technology if you can believe what apple says.
Yes if you are a gamer this is not a good mouse but do you really think hardcore gamers use a Mac? Last I checked a lot of games still don't run on OS X.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
