Mr. Oak

So because you were not running your company properly, you put yourself in a vulnerable position by relying on credit cards. It was your fault for maintaining a large balance on your credit card. You were not prepared, you did not have your affairs in order. If you did, you would have operating capital and not need credit cards to run your business.

BTW Obama did not fix anything with the credit card companies. All he did was make them change their practice from charging the losers high interest to charging the responsible people a fee. Yeah that isn’t Marxist is it, those who pay on time will now also pay for those who cannot afford to pay.

You say thank you to that? Don't you pay your bill on time? Well guess what bud your rates will increase as you are now paying for all the losers with high balances & defaults. So as more losers default on their cards, the more you will continue to pay. Back to square one for you and your credit card run business. :)
It is a very simple economic model to understand

Town population
Distance from backbone
construction permit cost
materials cost
equipment cost
remote field office cost

time until return on investment is realized

If it shows that it will take more than an acceptable period of time to recover costs for rolling out access to an area, then they do not bother. Many times these providers finance the rollouts, so if they show that it takes years longer then the terms of the loan to recover their expenses, then logically it cannot be done until a later date.

If the gov tries to roll out access to these areas, it will be done at a loss which means at the taxpayer expense. We are not just talking about one time construction; we are talking about adding a major yearly expense from now on, all on the backs of the taxpayers.

If the entire project is a money pit, then these people deserve no more than 1mb/s guaranteed with occasional bursts up to 3mb/s.

If they want more, then the towns should come up with some funds to offset the costs. If we do not make these remote towns contribute something, they will continue with their hands held out, asking for more network upgrades & services at our expense. It is not my obligation to ensure billy bob in a town of 150 has 15mb/s FIOS so he can stream porn full screen in high res.
How many other cars are sold today for under $55,000 offer an over engineered engine that has been taken to well over 1000hp by numerous NHRA racers. In today’s world of prius & CAFE, the fact that an engine like this still exists for a relatively affordable car is something worth noting.

Yes the rear axle sucks, it should suck since the GT500 is still based on the same chassis as the v6 model. This is what keeps the price down. If ford built a different chassis for the GT500, the car would be in the $75,000 - $85,000 price range and not worth the expense for the number of units sold. These types of cars have always been about affordable bruit power before refinement.

The 6000, 7000 and 8000 use edge-lit LED, not a full backpanel of LED zones like the A950.

"Like the step-up UNB7000 series, the UNB6000 uses a so-called edge-lit LED backlight system, which allows it to achieve such a thin cabinet depth. The downside is that it can't utilize the local dimming technology we liked so much on the A950 series"

Like I said, the A950 uses the entire back of the set with zones of LEDs, the new 6000, 7000 and 8000 use "edge-lit" LEDs. How good edge lit turns out remains to be seen, but so far I like the 55A950 as the closest thing to the Kuro. These units are more about the form factor then a breakthrough in picture quality.

Lots of info in this thread on the new models

I did go see this TV at BB and was not impressed at all. Compared to the LN55A950, this tv does not achieve the same black levels, there was some blooming and for certain scenes it was grainy as hell with a weird looking picture. Saw the same tv at Frys and it was the same thing, poor black levels and mediocre PQ. The same movie playing on the 950 yielded a much different picture.

Do you understand that for this product cycle, samsung focused more of their efforts on a thin form factor then display, processing and LED technology? In essence they took their existing generation display pannels and stuffed them in to a thinner form factor. So these models are placeholders or for those who like the existing PQ and want a thin form factor.

Not until the fall will we see their next generation display pannel tech that will replace the 55A950 with multi zone LED backlight, local dimming, more led zones to control, deep black levels and an overall better PQ.

These are place holder models.
I was about to purchase one of these new 55" Samsungs when I started reading on AVS forums and other locations about the PQ, the washed black levels and when compared to the 55A950 which is multi zone LED they do not stack up. At first I did not realize that these new “ultra slim” models do not use full LED backlighting. Instead they use LEDs around the edge of the display and then use tricks to accomplish the same thing as a full multi zone led tv.

In essence for these new sets Samsung invested R & D for a thinner form factor, rather than on display, led & processing technology. If you are in the market for an ultra thin tv, then these are a good deal, however if you want near Kuro quality levels, then buy the 55A950 or wait until the fall when Samsung introduces the successor to the 55A950 and other sets with multi zone LED backlighting, more LED zones, 240hz, led motion plus etc.. Hopefully at some point they will intro a LED backlit tv with the ability to control each LED rather then by zones of LEDs like Sim2 has done.

I agree that portions of Detroit need to be repurposed and a percentage of the worker population re-trained for other skills/industries.

In this country when there are economic upswings, companies expand, build more facilities, increase their employee base, apply for more lines of credit and increase their production levels. In short the company takes on a lot of financial liability when it grows, liability that could potentially kill the company in the event of an economic downturn.

GM has grown over the last few decades and now it is simply unsustainable. No amount of tax payer money will fix the problem. When you drive to the mall and see 65%+ of the cars are BMW, Mercedes, Honda, Accura, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda or VW that is a clear picture that GM can not survive at it's present size. Instead GM should swallow it's pride, admit that they can only go after a portion of the automotive market that is not dominated by imports and then try to slowly regain market share over time with quality products that consumers want. Only when they gain market share and experience increased demand should they expand back to previous levels and not until then.

kudos to the girl for having the drive to make the video. I agree that she should make an effort with her appearence. That does not mean she gets dolled up like a slut. It means wash & comb your hair, brush your teeth, you know basic hygene. Those of you saying that she does not need to conform to social standards - Tell you what, dress like a slob at your next job interview, dont comb your hair, look like pig pen and tell me how it goes.
Man some of you are dead wrong and are not taking certain things in to account.

Everyone seems to want great coverage yet no one wants a cell tower visible from their home/neighborhood.

If a Home Owners Association blocks the construction of a tower, it is the HOA that is responsible for your iphone not receiving 3G coverage/speeds in that area, not ATT or Apple. If a local town/city does not grant a permit for a new tower, then you have them to blame for a lack of coverage. ATT can not force a neighborhood or town to allow new cell towers, if they can not force this then that means coverage in certain areas is OUT OF THEIR CONTROL. If it is out of their control, then you can not sue due to spotty coverage in a certain location.

It is not slick lawyer fine print, it is covering your ass for scenarios when tower construction is blocked and then people want to sue for millions over poor reception.

The fact that this guy is seeking compensatory, statutory and punitive damages is a rather plain & clear indication of money chasing rather then being about false advertising. If anything ATT should add some more clarification to their TOS Under no circumstances should this LOSER receive a cash settlement. He is an ambulance chasing attorneys best friend.
Giving credits to purchase a new GM car is providing preferential treatment to GM & Chrysler and would create an unfair advantage against Ford and other companies which credits are not provided for. It would also be a rather obvious thank you card from the Democratic Party to the UAW. Doing what you said would essentially kill Ford or they too would need bailout money. Why force a third company to ask for handouts if it's not necessary.

At the moment I like how Ford is doing things on their own, they should be rewarded and their products should be purchased. They have invested in a number of new technologies & product offerings and they are just starting to come to the market.

GM on the other hand is a sinking ship, the UAW's donation to the 08 election is causing a delay in what should have been done a while ago, file for BK, eliminate all UAW contracts and start from scratch with new contracts. GM in its present state cannot continue operations. They can only operate with taxpayer money and have zero chance of paying it back as they cannot return to profitability.

At what point do we the taxpayers say no more and demand that something other than writing checks be done. Remember this is a free country, there are other auto manufacturers to choose from, consumers should not be influenced to buy a car with credits just because it’s a loser company that is burning cash at an alarming rate or that the democrats need to give payback to the UAW. There are also a number of EV startups which must be nurtured.

I do get what you are saying but you have obviously not done a single google search for the SVT Raptor.

http://wot.motortrend.com/6366717/motorsports/race-prepped-2010-ford-f-150-raptor-r-finishes-baja-1000-takes-third-in-class/index.html

I would say a 3rd place finish for a pre-production vehicle in the Baja 1000 to be noteworthy. The 6.2L engine serves as a base platform that can be tuned to output well over 700hp. Sticking a 4.6L in the raptor would mean that higher hp numbers are harder to reach and maintain reliably in grueling races like the baja.

Who cares how fast the raptor accelerates on the street compared to a honda or whatever else. It's purpose is for the dirt nothing more.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
