Don't worry about the stats. Paul's are inflated by his assists, which are not always the result of his playmaking skill, but more of a reflection of the great shooting of Peja Stojakovic and David West.

Even if you don't agree with that, my point is that the box score doesn't reflect that Paul's contribution to the game was not as big as the box scores seems to indicate. I was at the game, and Paul did not put his stamp on the game. Kobe controlled his team's offense, and ignited some buckets with his defense. Paul is not an MVP, which I don't even think is a knock on him, it's more of a recognition that New Orleans gets large contributions from many players on their team, whereas the Lakers' contributions are more concentrated around three players, with the rest chipping in here and there.
