Can't roll with HD unless you've got the sound *first!*

Got a 5.0 downstairs based on some RCA bipoles for the roommates to enjoy, and a 5.1 rig back home for the parents with a Har Kar receiver driving three-way custom speaker cabs, plus a custom sub with two 18" woofers in push-pull configuration. Great for big group movie watching.

My personal rig is upstairs, for sound editing, but I watch a movie or two sometimes. PC-driven via M-Audio Delta 1010 plus corrective EQ on all channels, going to five Alesis ProLinear 720 studio monitors, two modded 12" Sony subs, and some room treatments. Flat response (+/- 2 dB) 30 Hz-20 kHz when measured at listening position. You haven't heard Master & Commander or The Fifth Element 'til you've heard it on a system like that!
Also erroneous is the reference in the post to "16/24" sound.
Spelling: Scarlett Johansson.
Despite the somewhat shaky 1080p output, it's going to be the Xbox 360, for now.
I stream data from my roommate's 400 GB dedicated media hard drives across a wired 1Gb LAN to my PC. Works very nicely.
For the "starving college students" of the world, OTA ATSC broadcasts are wonderful: high quality picture, easy to recieve in metropolitan areas, and best of all, free!
LOST is a show that exemplifies many of the reasons HDTV is worth watching and definitely my pick for one of the best.
Here in the Houston area, our NBC affiliate KPRC broadcasts local news in a nicely-produced 1080i.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
