Static magnetic fields can't, and thus don't, affect signals.
Re: Shure SE210

Actually, those are the worst in the lineup, they have a tinny resonance to them that's just terrible. The SE110 is bulkier, but sounds better than the SE210. The SE310 is better still, but costs a lot more, never mind the higher models. (I worked at a store that sold these, so I spent ample time test driving them myself.)

The $120 Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4 is, IMHO, a top value, they sound as good as the SE310 at under half the price. Buy on Amazon for cheap.

The iSight picture was good for its time, but it's horrible compared to a modern Logitech like the Vision Pro.
No, they're the same camera other than exterior color and the box they ship in.
I have an old iSight, too. It was great technology for when it came out in 2003 (IIRC), but it's terrible compared to a modern Logitech like the 9000 that everyone's raving about (myself included).
Yes, great camera (those two are the same camera, other than the LED color and the color of the plastic). I use the latter, it works fantastic even in low light.
What's the big deal? Almost all Macs with built-in iSights, as well as most PC laptops, have 1.3MP or higher webcams built in, that's more than 720p.
As a Shure owner, I can't recommend them. They cost much too much money for the sound you get.

The SE210, which I bought first, sound atrocious. They are tinny and resonant (in the bad way). I honestly can't believe these made it out of the lab. Ick. $150
The SE310 sound good, but aren't worth the money. I have these now (but didn't pay for them). $250
The SE110 are good (better than the 210, but not as good as the 310) at the price. $100

For all of those, you need the $40 Music Phone Adapter to get the mike and button. It's large and heavy, so it tends to pull. It has a clip, but the clip is BELOW the bulky part, so it just makes the mike hang upside down, so people can't hear you! Macworld did a comparison of mike adapters and liked some other brand better, I don't remember which.

A much, much better choice is the $150 Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi. They sound fantastic (better than the Shure SE310) and have a very compact built-in mike and button. These are the ones I would buy now, hands-down.

The V-Moda vibe duo at $100 is OK, very bass-heavy (so good for some kinds of music, but not others), and look great, but they're not super well made.

Etymotic's $180 hf2 is a neat set, very compact and light. The sound isn't quite as good as the Super.fi 4vi, they have a tad less bass and not quite as crisp highs, but the mids are excellent. I don't like that they only have the multi-flanged tips and the foam tips, but no regular silicone ones. These are your best bet if you want the lightest mike-equipped set you can get.
The new earphones probably will not work. The iPhone earbuds' button simply shorts two conductors on the plug. The new one has three buttons, so some extra hardware on both ends is necessary to encode three buttons into the same 4 conductors.

My expectation is that they will not work with the original iPhone, and that the 3G probably lacks the necessary hardware as well. It's probably restricted to the models Apple lists.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
