I don't know if I would call them "no name" brands. I have one of the Vizio XVTs and as far as I'm concerned they compete with the Sonys and Samsungs just you don't pay for the label - you're just smarter. Great specs and impressive prices. Even saw mine down something like $300 from what I paid for it last fall. Damn.
I don't know if you have looked at the XVT line, but the performance has improved by leaps and bounds. Even Consumer Reports "best Electronics" that just came out there were several Vizio models that they rated well there.
I'm not saying everyone is running out right this second to buy the biggest LCD they can find, but like someone else said: when brands like Vizio are releasing 42" TVs with 1080p at the prices they are there will always be a demand! I'm here to prove it and it was definitely worth it.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
