You know, one look at that photo makes this a pretty important story in MY mind. All those talking about THIS not being news need to look at that picture again and ask themselves if THEY want that happening to a loved one that's in a Toyota.
It does get tiring to hear people cry how everything is a conspiracy. For instance, everyone likes to talk about "breakthroughs" but rarely, super rarely, is there anything close to a quantum leap in technology. It's always small improvments over time where eventually someone looks back at the first model and says "wow, this is WAY better now than then!" But it still took time.

It's like saying we should somehow be able to magically go from the model-T to a flying car that runs on a thimble of sweat a year.

Seriously, Zeph, the US is a VERY free country, and if you really think someone like Bill Gates couldn't fund an electric car that would blow away a gas powered one IF HE WANTED TO but that he doesn't because of some crazy conspiracy, you should re-think your level of paranoia. He can't do it because it's un-economical to, and technically impossible.

There is no shortcut from here to there. Just chill out and accept it.

Throw out the cost and resale value huh? How about we throw back in the insurance cost?
Gosh I"M SO GLAD FRITZ still doesn't like BADGE engineering. Whew, so F'ING GLAD he won't bring back that TERRIBLE G8 as a REBADGED CHEVY. I mean, what the HECK! That would be almost, ALMOST as bad as bringing over say an OPEL as a BUICK or something!

GOOD THINKING FRITZ!!!

What an Ahole I SO hope this f'er is GONE SOON for his crap runing of GM's finaces and now the entire corp.
GOD I'm SO GLAD FRITZ does NOT like re-badging! Like what a TRAVISTY it would have been to keep the G8 alive as a CHEVY. It would have surely failed. I mean, that would be like re-badging an OPEL as a BUICK or something, wouldn't it b?
Better hope MS doesn't decide hacked hard drives need a ban likehacked dvd drives did.
Mine looks really nice next to my Halo 3 special edition 360.
I would like to know all these Lies you say FOX propigates. I mean, if there are soooo many of them why didn't you post 3 or 4 of them along with your accusation? I see at least 1 post where someone gave an example of CNN lying, and trying to make up news. How about you step up and post some FOX ones? Or can't you?
Tooling doesn't last that long. And I doubt the shipped the machine's from PA when all they really needed was the dies and such.
LOL, you're kidding right? why should people out in the middle of nowhere be subsidized by people that live in cities so they can order high speed internet from one guy while WE all pay for the other 4 guys to pass his boonieville house so he can "have a choice".

The USA has like what? 10 times the land mass of all the countries people cry about having more choices? Soon as you figure a way for comcast, or your local telephone company to magically string wires for not cost, you can cry about competition.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
