CES 2009 is over and there is still no info about the new stuff.

:(
That's right. Fring is on the App-Store, but you can't use it's VoIP function on the touch cos the iPod has no mic.
And till now, to use a mic, you need to jailbreak the Pod (mic hack).

So maybe the included mic in the new buds might be a hint to a new firmware.
Would be silly to produce a couple of new headphones inc. mic and limit the use just to the iPhone users.

Name me a good reason to buy expensive Apple Buds for myPod or myPhone and pay for a useless mic. as well, if I can get a pair of nice Koss Buds for the same price and probably better sound qual.

There must be a better explanation then a bad concept for the mic in the new Apple Headphones.

Maybe they come up with a firmware update making the use of a mic ( + software (fring or somin similar)) available to the iPod touch.

Would be sweet to have VoIP on the touch without jailbreaking it.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
