I'm waiting till we discuss the best Laserdisc player, I think that thing is totally about to take off.
I agree very much sir!

Why is this even being discussed on Engadget HD?
I dont get it, they received 55,000 calls... how large was the test area for this "soft test"... if it was nationwide 55,000 calls is nothing really.

Also the people affected dont see "a blank screen" they see just a message saying something to the effect of "your tv is not DTV ready please call the FCC at ....." so it really shouldnt be much of a surprise if you were not expecting the test.

I wonder if we will have to wait another 4 months for the DTV switch if these 55,000 people who arent ready start complaining again.
I cant beleive it... another useless post about the Pre because someone actually TOOK A PICTURE of this over hyped cell phone.

I cant wait till it gets released and the posts stop.
Enough about the Palm Pre already, it seems like a good phone but we dont need updates every time someone takes a picture of this over hyped cellphone.
I agree with Chris W, I cant beleive no one else mentionned Planet Earth before now.

On of the episodes with the great plains or something...
I think it's too early to know if Blu-Ray will really take over DVD sales. The fact is sales of the actual stand alone Blu-Ray in Q1 2009 are double those of Q1 2008 but as said the discs are still around 7%, I guess we wont see how it goes until later in the year.

I've been buying alot of Blu-Ray's but in the past few months I've been buying alot of DVD's casue some stores (the Best Buy in Montreal and in Ottawa) are selling off DVD's as low as 3.99, even some relatively new movies. When I asked why they said they are making room for more Blu-Ray.... we shall see.
My local library does not and the person who answered the phone laughed... what the heck? Basically every store and movie rental place around me has a huge Blu-Ray section and yet the library thought my question was unusual? I'm in one of the largest suburbs in Montreal and Blu-Ray is not all that "brand new" anymore.
Ordeith, read some of the comments above, they are dirt cheap only because the companies that will/are releasing these discs dont pay royalties. If these discs were sold in the US the price would be comparable to a DVD or Blu-Ray.

Hi, just wondering, do you have that DTV convertor box? I might have missed it in your post... are you only getting 1 channel with or without the box?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
