This is an excellent dvd player. Unfortunately, the folks at the AVS forum did not have access to a set that accepted a 1080p input over hdmi. Now that those sets are available, you can see the value of this player. So, the comment above that 720p or 480p are as good as it gets are just plain wrong and misinformed. You need to match your sets native resolution. For those of use fortunate enough to have sets that accept 1080p over hdmi, this player is just the ticket.
If you still have an old-school set, you are better off sticking with your old-school dvd player.
