The Samsung is still twice the price of an A1 player right now for inferior pic quality. How's that TrueHD sound on that Sammy Blur-Ray player? Oh wait, there aren't any TrueHD titles for Blur-Ray yet. WOW!! TWICE THE PRICE FOR LESS!!! Sign me up!!!
Yeah the news on this site is always way late or inaccurate. It's bery misleading to quote MSRP's when all the other sites have reported them all for $29.99. Which means you can probably order them for $24 or less from most sites. Im in the agreement that we dont need 15 more minutes of Kong. Is was long enough and notice it's not called "The Directors Cut". It's an extended version for nothing more than selling more discs. If you have the regular version you have Peter Jacksons directors cut! Kong is a big exclusive for the HD camp that will probably never see the light of day on Blur-Ray.
Sorry Blu-Ray fans...but this story isn't just an HD Beat story!!! It's all over the internet!! Pioneer is just the first of what im sure will be several companies to switch and start supporting BOTH formats. Blu-Ray is floundering with early adopters and Pioneer is smart enough not to be stuck holding a losing hand if Blu-Rays fortunes don't change soon. Sony's spin machine and smoke and mirrors are starting to wear off. They screwed up and by not making it a slam dunk have allowed HD-DVD to put up a formidable fight. Companies are protecting the bottom line with no loyalty to Sony or it's faultering format.
HD-A1 owner here with no problems...1/3rd? Huh? Where did you pull that number from?
I agree!! Blu-Ray has some of the worst movies ever as of today! It's so funny to see some of their message boards and people are getting excited cause "RV" got a decent review. "RV"???, gimme a break...but I guess if your in that camp you take whatever measley scraps you can get. HD-DVD has the best and most varied selection of the 2 formats. Everything from summer popcorn flicks to comedies to dramas to Academy Award winning pictures. I would be P.O.ed too if I owned a Blu Ray machine and all the titles keep getting pushed back. The comparison is not even CLOSE!!! These are great movies from Universal and are way better than any of the "new" Blu-ray flicks that have hit the shelf. Disapointing my _ss!!
Well Galactica will probably be out before years end since Universal lists it as an upcoming title. However, Stargate wont be on HD-DVD because it is a Sony/MGM owned property. Look for that on Blur ray!! You know the other format, the one thats struggling right now.
Universal is THE champion of HD-DVD!! They are being so aggressive in their support. Not only do they provide great transfer of their discs but they communicate release dates months in advance. Something that Warner could be better at. They are pretty quiet with their announcements and seem to spring it about 2-3 weeks before street date. Cant wait to own all 5!! Go HD!!
It's because Sony believes Fox can do a better job of distributing and marketing them for the time being. Apparently Sony has too much on its plate right now and outsourced them to help distribute titles in a more timely manner.
The problem isnt an underpowered Broadcomm chip. Toshiba's HD players are rated highly by just about every website and magazine that covers AV technology. Not to mention the exquisite software available for it. The problem is crappy transfers from Sony and the other Studios. If Sony believed in their format so much then where is their player? Not the smartest thing to let Samsung's hardware and the available software for it get continually roasted by the press while you continually delay your own player. That doesn't instill confidence in the early consumers. It's time for them to put up or shut up.
Yeah...bring on Smallville!! Warner is so mysterious with their release dates and the small notice they give to the media. Now if they can just get out Batman Begins,Harry Potter,T3, Superman Returns, The Matrix, & Troy. They gotta be getting ready to release a couple of their big guns soon. Universal on the other hand is just cranking these things out and have some great stuff coming in the next few weeks. Hopefully we get Battlestar Galactica around October just in time for season 3.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
