How about we get some teeth into making access cards the standard and then let these crap, over priced monopoly boxes fade away. My moto PVR couldn't possibly be a bigger POS.

This might be able to get some mileage in some where like Canada which has completely missed the whole video over internet thing that the US has. If the BB is sitting beside the grocery store you go to all the time you could load up on say 5 movies or some thing on that trip to the store. It gives the potential for more choice. They can get some mileage if they have better quality than internet downloads. People also wouldn't need megabuck internet connections to use the service.
What makes any one think that the ChromeOS vapour ware would be any good at this at all? Every one on line has been falling all over them selves to declare that Google has completely won the internet, the OS, and all application space based on a press release. Not every thing Google does turns into gold. There isn't any proof yet that ChromeOS won't suffer the same fate on the net top as Linux. Any one shipping a box with it won't get to renew their Windows licences so no one will ship with it.

Will the ChromeOS even be able to do what my current TV OS will? Will it brick my $3000 TV? Are developers going to want to support ChromeOS? Get back to me when there is actually some thing to talk about.
So Microsoft got the monopoly they always wanted after all. Surprise! When will these ass holes learn that not every one wants to be beholden to Microsoft. Call me when they will let me do what I want with my files and use them with any OS of my choosing.
BD live has always been and will always be about suckering people into buying a machine to enable the studios to move you to downloads.
I don't understand why they can't provide a normal web page with a link to an h.264 type file . Why should I have to buy Windows in order to watch stuff they can't give away for free already? Get back to me when they learn what standards are.
I think you are missing the next step. Security cameras in the theaters. The plan is stupid, unworkable and intrusive when they add the cameras. That means the MPAA will be grabbing it with both hands.
HDNet has been backing away from being "The Home of MMA" for a while now. My guess is MMA is just becoming to expensive for them. As an MMA fan I find any other fight sport just to one dimensional and boring. The bad news is HDNet is loosing it's appeal for me. The good news is that HDNet was one of the last reasons for me to keep my satellite provider. Dumping them is getting more and more likely.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
