This is good news. I tried Gogo on American for the first time this week. Worked pretty well. I used it to watch my slingbox and I was getting about 400kbps down. I was impressed. The cost would have been $14 because the flight was over 3 hours long. Fortunately, I had a code that I used to try the service for free. The only problem I had was initially after connecting to the hotspot my computer said I had local access only, and no login page would come up. I told a Flight Attendent about it and she said they rebooted the system. After several minutes I got online.
I think it's pretty cool. To see any action you have to let the DVR record an hour of it, then FF or REW at 300x. But a live visible light image of the entire Earth has been on my wish list for quite some time. To appease all you haterz, I doubt they'll keep it online long.
That's actually a pretty sweet model of Vaio. I think it's either a PCG-FX215. I had one for 7 years until I gave it to Mom. I very reluctantly replaced it. Make fun of it if you wish, but my '01 FX215 running XP with max RAM and a newer CPU could hold it's own against newer Vaios running Vista.
This requires installation by a licensed HVAC technician or the warranty is voided. It comes with an equipment interface which is to be installed near your HVAC equipment. It has about 20 wire terminals in it.

So, not only do you have to pay $35 a year for a web portal, but you also have to pay a HVAC guy to install it. I'll pass.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
