The Shins - "New Slang"
It's true that after being aquired by Take 2, the Amped team was urged to leave the proven simulation game play of the first two iterations, and forced to create a product that was designed by marketers, not snowboarders. It's a shining example of the politics currently involved in the snowboard sub-culture, where Moutain Dew/Chevy/Paul Mitchell companies barge onto the scene, shake as much money from the sport's identity as possible, and then leave it for dead as a soulless carcass of what the sport used to be.

Amped 3 should have been so much more. I hear there's a Shaun White snowboard game in development for PS3. Better luck to it. I wish it were on the 360.
#2 and #11

Has anyone ever considered that maybe Sony is sick of all three console makers getting to market at the same time every five years? Maybe they are considering staggering the release of the PS3 for a couple of years after the 360 and Revolution. This could be a new stratagy. Who says all three need to come out during the same year?
It will be interesting to see how much lower HD-DVD wholesale costs will be since they're cheaper to press. HD-DVD will be walking a fine line. If HD-DVDs are not priced low enough, they will be steam-rolled by PS3's Blu-ray community. If the price is too low then the average consumer will be left with the impression of product inferiority.
From the article, "Something else to consider is that, at the same event, Microsoft revealed that its Xbox 360 would eventually be able to play discs from the rival HD-DVD format... on an optional, external drive. As countless add-ons, including Sony's own HDD, have proven, if it doesn't come standard, it almost certainly doesn't stand a chance."

Does this include the DVR functions that will need an optional HDD, and TV tuner? Or the "Slingbox" functionality that they won't have for years into the future?

Oh yeah, DVR functionality was also pushed as a feature of PS2, but that never came to fruition. Hmmm...
The people who are really going to get this ball rolling, are the entrepreneurs who begin retro-fitting existing cars to accept E85.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
