auto updates should be disabled, especially when they happen behind the scenes w/o any in advance notice.

When I got my appletv with boxee preinstalled at www.boxeeonappletv.com they've disabled the auto-update so I'm lucky I don't have to deal with this patching again now.

Apple TV survey checks into user habits

There's one habbit they forgot to put in the survey - run boxee on it... everyone i know including myself got an AppleTV just for that purpose.

I got mine from boxeeonappletv.com with boxee preinstalled.
A huge upgrade to the appletv software as well as to my viewing repertoire.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
