QNAP is way too late on this one. Why get this when you can purchase the new Popcorn Hour C-200 for $299, which has a newer chipset SMP8643 while the QNAP NMP 1000 will be using the SMP8635 and costs more (posted as $399 is the QNAP forums).

What advantages will the QNAP NMP 1000 have that the Popcorn C-200 won't?

Both provide sufficient support, firmware releases, and are reputable companies.

In my opinion QNAP delayed this player too long for it to compete now. Especially with new releases of other media players (EVA9150, XTreamer, etc...)

I was Taiwan during the month of May for vacation waiting to purchase this only to hear it get delayed again and that it will be officially announced after Computex (June 2 - 6). It is now the middle of June and still no official announcement was made on their Website. This is a bad start for a company trying to enter the media player market.
+1 LOL! :D
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
