As long as both cablecard and Blu-ray playback require Windows, I'll never have such a setup. I guess I can see the lack of Linux support an issue due to the openness, but where is Apple on this?
Why the photo of Ray Liotta?
I blame Kenny's girlfriend. Afterall, he did die from holding his farts in because of her.
The Comcast Vermont additions happened over a month and a half ago. More notable channels added were MGM, Planet Green, and Encore. If I remember correctly, there were about 15 HD channels added at that time (mid-December).
Best announcement is the portable BD player. That TiVo doll would go great in my living room.
These were also added to the Burlington, VT area early yesterday morning.
I've used my Core2Duo Mac Mini several times to capture HD streams using FireRecord. You do not need the FireWire SDK. A G4 will work just fine for capturing the stream (I've used my PowerBook for Capturing also). It's playback where you need the horsepower, which a 2GHz Core2Duo will deal with just fine. You don't even need to worry about file conversion if you don't want to as VLC will play the recorded files without a problem.
This would be an inexpensive way to replace my old, deceased HP printer.
Why not use the space for 2 HD channels and if there's space left over, add SD channels until it's all used up?
I wonder how long it will be before those 32 paramount titles get added back to the Blu side. That's almost 100 titles more than HD DVD.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
