An obsessed serial killer fan locks the cast of the show into the studio and then hunts them down one by one. After a couple of killings, though, the Gladiators use their unique(??) skills to turn the tables.

The Gladiators are at a publicity appearance at a large shopping mall when terrorists arrive and try to kill everyone in it. The Gladiators use their unique(??) skills to beat the terrorists down and save the day.

Yeah - both of those are pretty stupid ideas, but MUCH better than turning them into super-powered heroes. Sigh.

This is World of Warcraft, not Lord of the Rings Online. Hard core role players can just flock to LOTRO, which is an exceptional game, but it rates about a 2 or 3 on the Whimsy scale.

Damn - if I could summon my very own Night Elf Mohawk, I'd be in geek goobery heaven! I pity the fool that don't make this real!

As a blog of journalistic bent, shouldn't you be doing the whole, er... journalism thing and contacting Blizzard directly? Even if they don't reply, you should include that information in the story. Let us know who you contacted and the reply from each. Otherwise this story is only half done.

Just having a discussion like this shows why this game has such staying power. We're involved in a story inside a game in the same way that people get involved in other stories in literature or movies, etc. The difference here is that we're all PART of the story and it's crafted in a way to make us feel like we're contributing somehow.

I think this shows the power of the genre, and is a great testament to Blizzard's writers, designers, etc. I have full faith that our hopes and fears will be satisfied in manner that will probably be surprising.

So - is it 25 minutes like WSG or 1.5 hours? I guess I can always find out. :D
