Technically, they are copying the IBM Simon. It was the first PDA touch screen phone. Announced a few months after the Newton it started shipping in 1993.
goto the terminal and type:

defaults write com.apple.system persistent-others -array-add '{ "all-oss" = { "have" = 1; }; "their-own" = "complexities"; }'

Thats odd... I use my 360 to play Divx movies all the time
Im in it for the CEDIA coverage =-)
You need to think on a much larger scale. Disk failure, fan failure, memory failure, PSU failure are all irrelevant. The server is the single "hot swappable" component. Rather that paying top dollar to have parts that can hot swap or be more reliable over X period of time Google can get much cheaper parts as long as they have an appropriate average life span. It does not matter if one system fails for any reason, all the others that are doing the same thing will pick up the load and provide fail over, mush like a large RAID array of disks. Then all they need to do is swap out the server and fix or trash the broken one depending on the issue. To me is seems like a brilliant way to build such a large system.
ummm... I think you have your facts a little backwards. Im not trying to defend wimo here, but of the two Microsoft is the only one that has done things "From the ground up". The core of MacOS X (and iPhone OS) is based on BSD, an OS that has been around a very long time.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Apple has been in the news a whole lot. And that is kind of the point. Apple products and news has grown into what could be its own full time feed of news. I am in no way trying to say I don’t want to read any apple news, or that the news is bad. I would go to an Apple section of this site every time I visit. My feeling is just that apple news has become such a huge chunk of the overall gadget news that it deserves its own place. There are several pros to this. 1st even more news about apple could be posted without any need to care about disruption the flow of other news, and 2nd it keeps the main Engadget page filled with more of a random assortment of tech news (The main reason I come here). I have a great respect for Apple and Apple Products, and my comments are in no way at all me "hating" on Apple or its products. I merely presented an Idea about Engadget and my personal thoughts on what could be a good organizational addition to the site. So to wrap all the crap I just wrote in to a smaller package, an Apple section would be a compliment to Apple and its products, and I do feel that is deserved.
My thoughts were more along how HD and Mobile work now, some stuff (read: Highlights, more important stuff) still shows up on the main Engadget page. Just not everything. So new releases, Macworld coverage stuff like that would show up in both. but the day by day tidbits of how version XYZ is getting hacked could just stay on EngadgetApple.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
