I've had mine for a couple months and my experience has been less than satisfying. The regular channels work just fine, but there are often problems with the SDV channels. Sometimes, the sound cuts out for a few seconds, sometimes the video gets fragmented like scrambled porn, and then other times, I can't get the SDV channels at all.

I forget what the message says exactly, but basically, the Tivo is telling me that the Tuning Adapter is unable to receive the channel. I assume I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. For now, it's fine. I'm a patient person. I've waited a long time for this technology. I can wait a while longer for them to iron out the bugs and correct these problems.

But so far so good, I suppose. I'm much happier having all these "new" HD channels on my Tivo instead on just on the CableCo's POS DVR.
As of right now, 463 (64.7%) of readers who have answered this poll say that they "haven't even requested one" from their cable company. I'm a bit confused. How can this be? Are you telling me that there are people out their who forked out the money for a TiVo Series3 or TiVo HD who are still sticking with cable, but for some reason aren't interested in a Tuning Adapter?

I live in San Antonio, and have Time Warner, so we have SDV, meaning that a Tuning Adapter is absolutely necessary if you hope to get the most out of your TiVos here (If you have any hopes of getting all the HD channels available in your area). But I guess that may not be the case everywhere. But if SDV isn't an issue where you live, then I'd assume Tuning Adapter's aren't available in your area either. Which would suggest that "haven't even requested one" wouldn't be a relevent answer. However, if SDV does affect your area, then I would think that any card-carrying, red-blooded American with a TiVo should proudly say that they have their Tuning Adapter (despite its flaws), or they should be disappointingly that their CableCo hasn't stepped up to the plate yet. But to say they haven't even requested one is just absolutely mind blowing!
Loved the connected HDTVs!
On a related note, I just noticed that on the TWC-SA website, there's now a form you can fill out to "pre-order" a FREE tuning adapter!

No, that's not likely to ever happen with Tivo HD or Series3, but I suppose it could happen further down the road with whatever Tivo releases in the future, assuming Tru2Way works likes it's supposed to.

I have Time Warner Cable here in San Antonio. I have a Tivo Series3 (with cable cards). To date, TWC-SA has 32 HD channels (39 if you include premium HD channels). Because of SDV, I can only receive 13 of the 32, even though I'm technically paying for all of them.
I've been reading about this for a while now, but I can't remember any details on how it is we're supposed to get get our hands on this thing. Is it something we rent? Will be be able to buy it in a B&M store? Buy it online? Is it free for those of us who have been forking out $10 a month for 11 HD channels and 30+ SDV-only HD channels?
Okay, so if BHC was so willing to listen to their customers, why are we letting Time Warner Cable off so easily? Why aren't we demanding that they hold off on SDV until after they first provide CableCard users with the proposed "workaround" coming in Q2? I think it's time for push to come to shove!!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
