First give up on Managed Copy. While its great and can give us some of the solutions to the B.S. of DRM, it'll never happen. I don't want to spend another year of listening to saying "WHEN MANAGED COPY COMES OUT, ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED", like you did with the idea of Tru2Way. You said the following numerous times! "WHEN TRUE 2 WAY COMES OUT, ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED".

PS: Tampa Sucks. Go Giants!
Hope someone can help me out.

I'm getting the components together to network all my systems & extenders. I have recently ran cat 5 cable throughout the house, & upgraded a few old systems. I have a windows home server in place as well. Next step for me is to remove some of the old tuners and upgrade accordingly.
Before I go buy new tuners cards, I need to know:
1. Is the Silicon Dust Home run worth it? Does it record Discovery HD and similar channels
or do I have to buy a cable card tuner @ $200 a pop?

I have Comcast digital cable and I want to record the HD stations other than those that I can get over the air.

What tuners would be best?

Signed..

getting started & confused.
Richard:

You have to stop moving to & away from the mic. Secondly, speak up. You mumble too much and talk too low that when I turn the volume up, it sounds like Ben & Steve are screaming.

Can you get a little closer to the mic and speak up & clearly? Please?

Love the show.
The case looks huge. How did you have trouble with the PSU?
Why not just charge the damn $4 the first time. They make it seem like its only $4 but in reality its $5 when you add the other increase.

Six months from now another $4? I don't mind paying for it, but I do believe its at the limit of what I am willing to pay. I like new movies like the next guy, but the "Long-Wait" on half my que is also ridiculous as well. They need to fix this issue.

Just keep in mind that this only covers some of the increase in Blu-ray rentals. What happens when useage hits over 20-50%? Does that mean another increase?

Don't cancel the account just yet. If you are dissatisfied and want to send a message, then just put the account on hold for a few months. This way you don't loose whatever.
I think everyone is missing a big point when it comes to Netflix & Streaming movies. They can (Netflix) continue to go the streaming route but the problem is going to be the bandwidth caps that are being imposed by the service providers. Comcast has a 250gig limit for example, and while that may be ok for surfing and the occasional download, if you think you are going to download HD movies right after each other and not see a potential problem, then you may find yourself paying for a service that you can't use.

If I am not mistaken, doesn't TWC also do the same thing? Comcast may be a halfway decent cap, but there are others that are a hell of a lot smaller.

These online content providers will need to kick the cable providers in the ass as you have 2 forces that are opposing one another.
One wants to limit (because they blame it on those who pirate movies) how much you can download, while the rest of the entertainment providers wants to transition to a download business module.

I just don't see how its going to work out for us customers. Looks like we are screwed either way.

I just got an advertisement for a Moxi DVR (www.moxi.com). It advertises dual HD tuners while being able to watch a 3rd show. First off, I never heard of Moxi. At a $799 up front cost, I think its quite high and will only take off with those who have a few $$ to spend and enthusiasts.

On the next podcast, can you guys talk about this? Give a little background (if you know), has anyone used it, tested it, etc... all the details.

Personally, at that price, I still will stick with Media Center.
My favorite announcement was Dish Networks Media Center announcement.

Now pick me cause I have birthdays coming up and I need gifts!
Thanks for the reply.
I didn't think there were any plasmas with 3D and the 2" factor, well he'll have to get past it unless he wants to digg deeper.

Thanks for the reply
Ben:

Aside from a Pioneer Kuro, I need your recommendation for the best 56"-60" Plasma TV, that has at least 3 HDMI, 3D support (my father in law insists) and obviously is 1080p all for $3000. If there is network support, or any other feature that you deem a necessity.

This is for a family member and having seen Journey to the center to the center of the earth in 3D on my TV, he now wants to make sure he gets the same thing.

I look forward to see what you recommend.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
