Mercury Computers is a triple A company building Medical and Research Computer equipment. Every Hospital and Research Facility has at least something made by them. Their Units can cost ten of thousands of dollars ($70-80,000.00) and are based on IBM Cell Blade Servers.

What they did here is a very noble deed. They adapted their own SDK development libraries with Yellow Dog Linux, to be used on the PS3 Hardware so that almost anyone can be capable of developing programs that can run on a PS3. They can be used in the Medical field and life simulation research anywhere in the world at a fraction of the cost of buying their own equipment. It opens a door to even more PS3 sales. Maybe not to gamers, but a whole new untapped market in the medical field!

The power of the Cell BE processor in conjunction with Yellow Dog Linux on the PS3, now has another way to bring more bang for the buck than any single piece of computing or gaming hardware in the World. For Universities and small labs this will a boon in helping save life's in the World tomorrow!

PS3 = Superior Games on Superior Servers. This Game stepped all over Halo 3 beta, with many of these putting out 38.4 TFLOPS all over the world! Halo 3 what? mwaa...ha..ha.... hehe

Few people realize that Sony got directly involved with Code Masters and building their Multi-platform Neon Game Engine from the start. They knew this Engine would be powering all their games into the future.

The main difference between the platforms is that the Xbox 360 and the PC are still using OS high level (slow) application code with DirectX as the highway API into the hardware. While Sony was busy developing PSGL ES (OpenGL Embedded System now a part of Khronos Group). It's a ground up solution to accessing hardware by directly embedding low level (fast) access API "Close to Metal" (it's an inside job).

This is the system of the FUTURE (now being supported and embedded in every PS3 along with another rapid hardware interface for Cell BE). In fact both the compiler and driver are embedded right along with it and are firmware upgradable. As games are written for nexgen systems, they will optimize their engines to dig deep into the hardware, where they can be optomized live inside continuously for this new embedded system. Where games will naturally run better and faster!

That's why there is such a speed and performance boost in the PS3 over Xbox 360 versions here. Games are now preparing to take the "Express Lane" to work directly on the hardware, lip stick kissing close to the RSX/Cell Combo!

It's the next generation people! On the free and open source expressway to another gaming world! ;)

@psyc0de Yes I understand CUDA does a really good job of turning a GPU into a CPU. Well sort of, but it's still limited as to what tasks it can perform. But the scuttlebutt is that Nvidia is going to join the convergence zone. Where GPU's are becoming more CPU like and CPU are becoming more GPU like. More like the Cell BE!

What if Nvidia was to pair up with Intel? A sort of AMD/ATI deal. Make a multicore chip with both GPU and CPU cores on it! Anybody think that's feasible?

What a waste! So all you get extra is a 120 gig drive you can add on to a PS3 very easily and "Black" color. WoW! Not.. Hope you know that even Microsoft will offer BluRay instead of HD-DVD now. No chip! So Sony just may beat them out with the 65nm chip. Not to mention that RSX offers the 128bit HDR Lighting coming with DX10 and Crysis.

Well that's if Nvidia and DAAMIT (AMD/ATI) even get drivers out for that loser OS!!! LOL I have it and hate it back on WinXP! So now we have the Zune failure, Vista pissing in the wind and Xbox 360 doing all the things they said they didn't need to do. Increase Hard Drive, use BluRay and HDMI! Well.. well.. well things have indeed changed!

And on the PS3 we have Bluetooth, built-in Wifi, Free Online Gaming and browsing and a supperior gaming future B3yond just tomorrow!!! LOL

When will Xbox Live start looking like "Home" and when will they have XNA games that look like what we can do with "Little Big Planet" in a very short time! Hate to say it, but "You all should have bought a PS3"! heehee

OK sorry just got them in mail. Can not put them all together. The adapter is just so you can use Memory Stick Pro Duo in the old size Memory Stick Pro slot! But all work fine and for $14 per 2gig stick and adapter each a bargain. $56 total for 8gigs of memory. With a iso loader and games/movies??? ;)

WRONG! First this the Memory Stick Ultra Pro Duo 8gig, at over twice the speed of Memory Stick Pro Duo and carries twice the capacity. But it falls back on speed to the Memory Stick Pro Duo format even though it fits into the slot.

A Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 2gig w/4gig adapter (staks 2 x 2gig), is available on ebay less than $20. So you could get 4 ea 2gig Sticks using the adapters for 8gig total less than $80! That's what I did!!!

Now my turn, I am not a Sony fan or a Nintendo one or for sure not a Microsoft fanboy! Last year this same time I picked up a Xbox 360 it was all for about $760 in a Bundle! First game included "King Kong" sucked, trashed it and Microwaved it to use as a Coaster and frisbe. 2nd game - Kameo - fine if your into that stuff, but no thanks. Finally I push in the game I bought the system for. Project Gotham Racing! It was good and I was impressed.

Three months go by and nothing great comes out. Racing can get very old, so I took up Geometry Wars like everyone else. X360 has froze up on me a number of times, but now with spring warmup I get my first BSOD and pulled the power brick out of entertainment center along with console etc. The center was heat damaged. I eventually set the brick in the window to keep cool, luckily though I didn't have any fires as I had gotten the new power cord from the recall (remember that? didn't think so).

Not an Oblivion game type fan, but I decided to pick it up cuz it was touted as the only NexGen title for X360. Lock ups and BSOD's going into summer. Lots of waits while it cooled down. Then it started the tree red lights and the error code. Sometimes I got it working but most times not. Oh good I thought, new updates that'll take care of it and it did. Never ran after that, I had lost my receipt after 8 months. So I was told I was shit out of luck! All I got for that money was a couple of doorstops!!!!

I have a PC to game on so that's what I did. I was in no way going to take another chance on an X360 and so I waited for a PS3, and got a pre-order on launch day! Hadn't been paying much attention to the hype, but when I pulled that thing out of the box, I was massively impressed!

It ran cool as ice and quiet as can be especially when compared to an X360. I picked up Resistance and it played incredibly well on my Sony Bravia HDTV. Ran the update and was online in just a few minutes. Now to shorten this up, I've never purchased a piece of hardware and been this impressed. I would never ever buy another Xbox 360! And as for Wii, I've played it. It's a laugh for about a second then you think about the money Nintendo is actually making for putting out this flimsy piece of trash and you are oh so glad you got that Sony PS3!

The best Playstation of all has just landed in the U.S. and I'm excited to have one to play no matter what you moronic Xbots and WeeWiis have to say! In the end it'll be Sony PS3-Peat time when the flood of "A" games come out through 2007 and 2008! Still the largest base of Developers of any console out. And as for the Exclusives, it just can't be matched and contrary to common belief PS3 is gaining exclusives from X360! That the true! So just stuff it and why aren't you playin your junk consoles if there so hot?????? Fools! LOL

Now with two other consoles, Microcrap's potential customers have been extremely diluted and the posibility of reaching 10 million by Europe launch looks weak at best!

So Xbots trying to do their duty for their God (Bill Gates) and Company are launching another "Get the Facts" campaign (like that against Linux) in an attempt to discredit Sony, PS3 and any 1st party Devs that write games for them.

These idiots come out sporting an old E-3 video and a funky in game vid of a pre- Pre Release of the old Beta scraps claiming it's in game and not up to the CGI showin at E-3! They then pretend in their own demented mind to believe this or the download demo or the kiosk that was put up long ago and shove it down our throats. And half of them need glasses, because the in store X360 kiosk are still running PGR right next to PS3 kiosk and these idiots are trying to say it looks better.

All I can say is WAIT FOR The FULL GAME! Motorstorm will trample PGR like the trash it is! And if you don't believe me, then check out this Monster Review of a full game Pre-release that is not only closer to release, but is said to exceed that trailer!
