$200 let alone a $300 price for player is crazy.
You're correct - I've noticed a suspicious absence of open set-top DVRs also...where the f___ are they????

The models you mentioned have not been manufactured for a few years! With the digital conversion almost here, you'd think set-top HD DVRs would be a hot item. I'm going with the conpiracy theory on this one!
Right on Ben!!

Simple software written by two year olds would give the lord all mighty middlemen content providers all the security they need for programming access.

But noooo! The All Mighty Telcos/CableOps with powerful lobby groups continue gouging consumers with needless box rental fees!!!
The Huappauge HD DVR rocks. May not be as convenient, but no fees!!
Time Warner has to step it up in SE Wisconsin or I'm jumping ship along with everyone else.

I got the inside scoop > Favre is going to San Francisco where the weather is perfect.

Glad I didn't buy that POS. I'll keep archiving on my DVHS and Hauppauge HD DVR.
This is good news if and when implemented. Nice reporting.

Any idea if I can transfer my library to an upgraded computer, or is that retriction still in place?
Does this mean that the Hauppauge HD DVR may suddenly stop recording non OTA HD channels?
That is bull___! Someone finally comes up with a useful home product, and Hollywood's bullying already.
I'd like to see a desktop dvr like the above Hauppauge unit, that does not need a computer--Hollywood is killing the marketplace for custom dvrs.
Good God, those mamas just want to pop out, and I can feel them right now...she is beeeautiful!

back to the tv, anyone know if recorded material can be transferred off of tv, or bigger drive swapped...hard drive is pretty small by today's standards.

"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
