Is it able to pump out 5.1 sound thru that HDMI out? Or stereo sound even? Now that they are giving a digital video output on these laptops, i might want to use it to play dvds or encoded MKVs on a tv. It would be nice if i could have the 5.1 sound come thru the HDMI too. But for some reason i doubt that the hardware makes it possible.
Now that they are giving me HD video, i also want 5.1 audio coming out of the mini HDMI. That way i can take the movies on the go and play them correctly anywhere.
Nice specs, but i dont like the look. Also im not a fan of Verizon anymore. No dice.
Haha, transcoding options have been available for a while not on both platforms (360 and PS3). The point here is that its possible with the Divx tech preview to play mkvs with h264 streams on the 360 without having to transcode them (i.e the 360 handles all the video processing and not your computer).
Divx Labs has already been working on Project Remoulade

It pretty much lets you stream an mkv (with h.264 video and aac audio, and possibly other combinations) from your MC host pc to an extender like the 360.

I believe its already up and running for Win7 32 bit users, with 64bit support coming soon.
What is it not able to do?
huh?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
