Processor speeds? Do I care? Not a bit. When anandtech.com points out that my G1 takes twice the time that the Palm Pre and iPhone 3GS do to load a page, I do care. The G1 needs more power and more optimized code.

Where's the processor upgrade? Good luck competing with the Palm Pre and 3GS at that price point. This new smart phone is twice as slow as the competition.

Quality is a mindset that the US companies haven't embraced. They've improved quality, but they don't have the mindset that the Japanese companies have.

There was a story in the Wall Street Journal a while ago. It was about some kid who was a quality engineer for a Japanese company who switched to an American company.

He stated that at the Japanese factories, the workers are empowered to stop the line as soon as they notice even the smallest problem. They are encouraged to.

At the American factories, if something was discovered, the protocol was to keep pumping cars out, and go back and fix the vehicles later. The factory had to meet it's quota even if it meant making defective vehicles.

We Americans aren't convinced of Detroit's improvements yet. Just look at the resale values.

I guess those idiots in the Dallas city hall shouldn't have paid half a million more for the cameras than they had to in the first place.

That's right, the citizens of Dallas paid more for inferior cameras all in the name of political back scratching. ACS has also been in trouble for back dating stock options.
