Make sure you are downloading the restore for the version of the iPhone you've got. If it's an original (non-3g), make sure you get the "1,1" version.

"specs are slim"... Nice.
From your link:

# "its", the possessive adjective and possessive pronoun form of the personal pronoun it

# "it's", a contraction of "it is" or "it has"

Thus "It's purpose" means "It is purpose". "Its purpose" is the proper form.
I totally agree with the MX-500. I picked up my first one in 2002 or so. It lasted about 5 years, and then started dying. This is with 3 toddlers in the house trying to destroy it.

When I started looking for a replacement, I couldn't find anything that fit the bill quite right. I picked up a Harmony remote, but I hated it.

I ended up picking up another MX-500 from Amazon. For less than $70, it can't be beat. And it only took 30 seconds to copy all of my devices and macros from the old remote to the new one ("Cloning").
Remember that DirecTV has MPEG-4 HD locals in a lot of places. I can't tell a difference between OTA and MPEG-4.

I have both an HR10-250 and an HR20 connected to the same TV. I thought I would hate the HR20 interface, but it has grown on me and I now like it better for most things. I've been a Tivo user since 2002, for reference.

You can upgrade the HR20 as well. I haven't done it yet myself, but it's as easy as popping off the cover and replacing the drive and powering up. Alternatively, just plug in an eSATA drive to the port on the back and you are done. The software is not stored on the disk, so no messing with MFS tools and all that garbage you have to do to upgrade Tivos.
I want the donut shaped USB drive.
Hey, I could use a new watch!
And this applies to HDTV how? Slow news day?
"... recalling six different treadmill models just two weeks after first recalling them ..."

Umm... Did you even read the article?

Date of first recall: October 8, 2003
Date of second recall: October 23, 2007

Yeah, that's only two weeks (plus or minus 4 years).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
