From the USA Today article...
"A report by the California Air Resources Board found pollution from the Bay area accounts for up to 27% of the smog in the northern part of the valley and about 10% in the southern reaches.

Valley politicians and air officials have been spearheading lawsuits and legislation to require Bay area cars to undergo the stiff auto emissions tests required in every other urban area of California. An exemption written into state law by a local lawmaker has allowed the area to escape the requirement.

"You have the greenest, wealthiest area dumping pollution into one of the poorest areas," said Bruce Nilles, a former lawyer for Earthjustice, an environmental law firm, who has worked toward improving air quality in the San Joaquin Valley."
As a resident of Sacramento, I agree that some smog comes from the bay area. It is bad here in the valley and the emission restrictions are necessary so we don't choke on the bad air. I think this is what you are referring to.

I wish California would go back to the blue background with yellow letters. I also did not mind the plates from the mid-eighties. I don't think it should be mandatory, but I would like to have the option over the standard, drab, license plates currently offered now. I would like to be able to choose between 2 or 3 designs.
I too would love to buy a 13" mbp and call it a day, but I would also like to save $800-$900 and have OSX on a Dell Mini 9. My iMac at home just isn't as portable as I would like.
I had pocket radio and now use the Sirius XM app and I find it easier to use. I don't listen to Stern anyway so it doesn't matter if he is there or not. I do find it incredible that 100 mil a year is not enough for him and he needs more to make his show available on the app. How can his fans defend this? Even if it a contract issue, he could get it done instantly if he wanted to. It's not like he did not know Sirius was developing the app for months in advance. There is more to satellite radio than stern. I was there before and will be there when he decides to retire.
Windows 7 rules...eventually. The RC1 is cool except for IE8.
I still like my original iPhone mainly because of the case. I sure do not like the plastic back of the 3G and 3Gs. I am eligible for the upgrade price on the 3Gs but still am having trouble determining if it is worth upgrading. This article makes good points and it sounds cool, but maybe I will scour eBay and pick up a used 3G instead. Even though I have been with Pac Bell->AT&T for many years, I really don't want to renew the contract for another two years if I can help it. One thing that is funny is that the iPhone is now a compass. Really? A compass in a phone? Yeah, I've really been waiting for that.
I own both a creative zen xtra (30gb) and an iPhone and I still prefer to use the creative. One reason is that I can click around the menus and select music without having to look at the screen. This is especially useful when I am driving. Also, the battery life is a bit better. I love my iPhone, but cannot give up the great creative player and media monkey music management software.
I was wondering of something like this was happening because I used to have no trouble and the video looked great. Now, the quality is low (xbox 360) and makes it unwatchable on my tv. I have a 10 mbps fiber connection through Surewest in the sacramento area.
I am not an expert in any of this but I would think that if this gets 50mpg, wouldn't it be more "green" than a hybrid, especially when you consider the batteries in the hybrid and the manufacturing of those batteries?

I guess you could also say that keeping the vehicle you own for 10+ years is more green since you are not buying something made from more raw materials. If you keep the same vehicle, you use less of the materials needed to build a car.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for the best geotagging camera currently available. The most important feature for me is the accuracy of the GPS module, so any hard specs on satellite receiver would be really useful. Thanks for your time!"
