the question is what can this do that glassless stereoscopic can't offer besides more hassle. sure you get 360 viewing, but having to set up for 360 viewing is a bitch.
so basically you will need to have your car dry cleaned every time you manage to get bird sh*t on it, or anything else that contains oils that stain. Can you imagine that dry cleaning bill. But hey on the upside i just found a new business model. Drive-Through Car dry cleaning!
The reason they are slower if often simply the size of the US. I mean try blanketing the entire US vs the entire UK. It is a hell of alot easier to do all of the UK and just do a the big cities in the US.
I forgot to mention that this would be more impressive on the 30ft screen and 4k projector that is also in the building.
Haha, as some one who actually works in the building where this located, Calit2 division at UCSD, the impressive thing is that the image is actually being scaled to a insane amount of pixels. Each of those monitors is a dell 30 inch with the usual ~ 2,500 by 1,600 resolution. All of this powered by a large amount of Dell XPS's, i think one XPS to every 4 monitors, and a crazy little OS called ROCKS.
Hows the quality of the hd movie?
Paul Smecker: This was a fucking bomb dropping on Beaver Cleaverville. For a few seconds, this place was Armageddon!
[shouts]
Paul Smecker: There was a firefight!

I would create the greatest Cluster F*ck of a map ever!

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
