As commented on the original post, this survey was a little difficult to understand. I own a Mitsubishi RPTV and I wasn't sure which category to use (it's not DLP or LCD based).
Post 1. is an accurate summary to most "normal" people's thought processes when they see widescreen material on their 4:3 tubes... "It looks small" my mother would say whereby I would launch into a rant explaining the ratios and how you're seeing the whole movie this way, not just half. Regardless of how good a job I do explaining it they still can't figure out why the black bars are there. "I paid for the whole TV" my dad will inevitably say grumbling about the black bars taking up space where there should be content. "Did you pay for the whole movie?" is my typical response. Then I go home and watch the movie on my widescreen!
I just posted an article on my blog about Avia, another test disc.
I don't really use the info in the what's on today posts. I do enjoy reading the site and have even commented on some posts. I'd like to see more "insider" information. How about some interviews with those in the industry (like Mark Cuban)? I also agree with the previous poster, I'd like to see the authors/editors take stances on comparitive technologies, etc. You can clearly label them editorials/opinions if you're concerned about upsetting potential (or existing) advertisers or other revenue streams.
I caught BSG in HD on NBC a few weeks ago, man I wish this newest season was in HD. Heck, I'd like to see the news networks start using HD... I enjoy World Report on HDNet but it's not comprehensive coverage.
You've got geometry issues. hometheaterspot.com used to have publicly accessible forums that covered service menus and tweaks to fix such issues, but I think they went to a paid membership setup to view to useful information like this.
I like the idea of an on-going comparison!
Can you post a pic from the standard def feed? (note: I need no convincing, I'm already an HD junky.)
Is HDNet going to cover the launch now that the first was scrubbed?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
