These would be great keyboard monitors! Can I have a pair please?

In terms of getting out of the recession: we need to invest! Dump some money into a Mars mission and fund a bunch of electric car startups, and solar/wind power farms.
lolz at the duct tape on the Xbox360's IR receiver. I had to do that, too, until I switched to an RF remote for the HTPC.
I'm done waiting. Switching to cablecard next week. I really wanted to stay with DirecTV but no computer based DVR solution and the amount of HD compression artifacts are pushing me away.
As sci-fi fantasy-eqsue as a watch phone is, it makes perfect sense with the proliferation of bluetooth headsets. I can imagine it being the norm 5 years from now, if nothing else as a bluetooth display/controller where the main unit is in your pocket/purse/glove box, etc.
maybe not so safe say. HD-DVD is higher ranked on Amazon's bestseller list for Phoenix right now. (#37 vs #55). DVD is still blowing the other two out of the water at #3 and #6 (two disc and widescreen editions, respectively)
I was curious to see how these stacked up on Amazon's bestsellers list for Kids/Family. As of 10:13AM PST on 12/7:

Harry Potter/Phoenix on
DVD Rank: #3 (two disc special)
DVD Rank: #6 (widescreen)
HD-DVD/DVD Rank: #37
Blu-Ray Rank: #55

Harry Potter years 1-5
DVD: #34
Blu-Ray: #53
HD-DVD: #74

And another popular title available on both formats, Planet Earth:
HD-DVD: #9
Blu-Ray: #17
DVD: >#100

So, what does this tell us? Not much. I know this is a small sampling, but HD-DVD is considerably ahead of BD for Phoenix, lags HD for the years 1-5 box set, while standard DVD outsells them both. But with planet earth, regular DVD loses (which makes sense since Planet Earth is practically made for HD).

I would expect family titles to do better on BD since the PS3 is probably in a lot of family/kids living rooms moreso than a standalone HD-DVD player. The only real conclusion is that there is no victor. HD-DVD might benefit in the family category for being a dual format disc: families can take the HD-DVD and flip it on the DVD side to play in the minivan or in the kid's room (which probably doesn't have a HD format disc player like the living room does)
Can it use that 40GB HDD for DVR/Timeshifting?
I second that nomination. and the macbook fanboys are retarded; read the instructions.
BD/HD-DVD pirating machines...i mean burners.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
