Cheese and rice, we're not necessarily talking decimals here. Software versions commonly work like this: MAJOR.MINOR. Each number can just keep increasing. So each time you release you go 0.1, 0.2, ..., 0.9, 0.10, 0.11, etc. So 0.2 is an earlier release than 0.11

If you're assuming that v1.0 is the launch version, the current version 0.98 doesn't necessarily mean we're close to launch. They could go 0.99, 0.100, 0.101, etc. before bumping to 1.0.
