Yeah, you're probably right. Although it does have its merits.
As usual you're missing the point here. There's a a huge grey area between doing a detailed comparison between different products and just convincing yourself that (or even just questioning whether) the advertising talk of the manufacturer is more or less correct. You just copy their blurb and repeat it as fact.

"We're doing our job at bringing you news about it"? This is not news, this is free publicity.
You prefer Windows 7, don't you, Jordan?
nope. apple doesn't have my creditcard number on file. i rely on gift cards.
What? Two comments already and no gripes about the iPod Touch being called iTouch?
oh wait, never mind.
Great! does anybody know a way to assign a hotkey to this?
@michael: your boss just admitted taking money. moron.
The thing is you present it as an objective thing. ads are clearly recognizable. these posts aren't. you know that very well. you're not fooling anybody. probably not even yourself.
i dont care who gets the kickbacks - aol or the blogger or whoever. if you write about a product to make money about it and you don't tell your readers about it then you're not objective and you should not be taken seriously.

and believe me, this is very different than grammar checking. this thing actually matters.
Erica, terribly sorry to hijack your post, but it's just one comment and then I'm gone again. I just wanted to say that I'm surprised that I just posted a comment to the previous article and that it was deleted immediately, and that now I believe it's impossible to comment on that article at all - at least I can't.

All I wrote was: ref=aol_tuaw

Is that so bad? If it's anything, it's funny, because Steven Sande for example gets very very angry when anybody suggests that tuaw ever gets kickbacks. But bad it's not...

Or am I the only one who cares about this?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
