I am getting the State of the Union Address in the following manners OTA:

FOX: 720p ABC: 720p CBS: 1080i NBC: 1080i
Can we buy the T3 from Buy.com ($634.99 at last look - http://www.buy.com/prod/Tivo_648250B_Series3_Dual_Tuner_Digital_Video_Recorder_w_300_Hour/q/loc/111/203305032.html)

and then still be able to swap the lifetime over? Or are they requiring you to buy it for $800 from them to be able to switch over the lifetime?
I am glad someone else is experiencing the same crapola service I am - thought I was simply the only unlucky one. I am on my 3rd box in a month - the first 2 they gave me didn't have HDMI or a PVR, but I was told the only way to get a box with HDMI was if I took on the 6216 model w/ the PVR (and pay the extra $9.99 a month). So I did it. I've experienced the same green screens, ff lockups, and non responsive remote issues as mentioned above. I can't tell you how many times I just have to pull the plug - and then all the menu data is gone.

I want to switch to the T3 and TiVo is offering the free lifetime subscription transfer now on all purchases through 1/31, so my question is this. Do I have to now buy 2 cable cards myself to get a TiVo to work with Comcast? Or do they make you rent theirs? Also, with this sort of setup, don't we lose the On Demand Functionality? Is there anyway to step back and use their box w/out the PVR and with a T3? Or is that simply madness??
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
