As some of you who have used Netflix or Blockbuster Online have experienced, DVD's arriving by mail are subject to many annoying conditions...scratched, fingerprinted, boogered, etc. In the short time I used both services I received discs that were unplayable and had to be returned. Most of the time I had to clean them before playing. I can see a medium replacing or as an alternative to those discs. Why not SD?

I purchased the Memorex MVBD2511 at Wal-Mart online during their Cyber Tuesday sale for just $148. So far, its a solid performer and is nearly identical in size and shape to my Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player. Night in a Museum, Cars, Black Hawk Down and the Dolby Digital Demo (Sound of High Definition) played great...no glitches on the MVBD2511.

Okay, I'll admit it...I'm a current HD DVD and Apple TV owner and convinced that downloads are indeed the future of home entertainment...but when Wal-Mart offered the Memorex MVBD2511 for $148 this week, I couldn't resist. The current price of the MVBD2511, $169, still isn't bad! So get yours! What are you waiting for? I see the light! It's so beautiful!

MacMall had the MVBD2510 for $127.00 on Black Friday and continued to allow people to buy them even though they were out of stock. Overstock.com has the MVBD2510 as of this writing for $169.00.

Thank you! I read a zillion posts before someone finally mentioned Apple. I don't want to be tied to a subscription to any company. If I don't want to spend the money that month, or would rather go to Redbox, then I spend WHEN I want on WHAT I want. Tonight the family and I watched "Journey to the Center of the Earth" on our Apple TV in HD, it looked and sounded great! Nothing to wait for in the mail, nothing to return. Thanks Apple for providing the best "pay as you go" entertainment.

"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
