Is that why all of my BB's are already starting to phase out HD-DVD?
It's the same in every store. There are no HD-DVD players for sale and the HD-DVD section has been scaled down by 50%/Blu-ray section doubled.
Alex, those #'s that you listed were given out by a non-credible Toshiba rep that was smoking crack at the time. Blu-ray has already surpassed HD-DVD in standalone sales and greatly surpassed HD-DVD in overall sales.

Just because someone writes an unbiased story that paints the truth of the situation(Blu-ray winning) doesn’t mean that they are a "Blu-ray fanboy"
Sometimes I just dont understand Toshiba. They must have known coming into this that their chances of success were very low. Did they not understand that their chances of loosing a lot of money and having their format fail were far grater than the chances of their format succeeding.

If sure their investors and stockholders are pulling their hair out now because of this.
Sorry to burst your bubble Alex but Blu-ray has outsold HD-DVD in Standalones si as well.
Looks like another act of desperation. They would have better luck with giving away 10 free HD-DVDs.
And you believe M$s numbers? The same M$ that claimed that they had sold over $100,000 add-ons in DEC of last year. I will never take M$ seriously after the crap that tried to pull at CES and CEBIT.
The add on was a miserable flop for M$. It's only sold some 40K units to date so I wouldn't be surprised if those numbers did include the Add on.
@ Zombie

Divx was never as popular as Blu-ray or DVD for that matter. It's clear that Blu-ray is going to win the format war so why is it people keep insisting that Blu-ray only studios are going to publish on HD-DVD? It would be as bad as DVD only companies supporting Divx.
What is Toshiba smoking? Blu-ray has already outsold HD-DVD Standalones units SI.

Blu-ray took the standalone lead last month and started outselling HD-DVD movies in January.

Those 3:1 #'s are official Nielsen/VideoScan sales numbers and don't include free movies at all.

The lies and misinformation in this story are reminiscent of something you would see in a M$ PR statement. Toshiba knows they are losing but its still sad to see them sink so lo and resort to putting out these outrageous lies.
Where is the HD-DVD drive? A included HD-DVD drive would be Toshibas best/last chance to help keep the HD-DVD Format alive.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
