You CAN play mkv in vista media center (google for how), the question is extenders which have horrible support for other video codecs.
Well to add some fire to the conversation...

I have about the same setup, 1 HTPC that does it all, and 2 displays (plasma and projector)

Since only one display is used at a time, I was able to mod a cheep switch that monoprice sells (the 2 port **passive** only $20) to work toe other direction (open it up and short the two diodes, or resolder them in reverse).

This has worked great for me over the last year, with zero picture degradation, even though the cable to the projector is 50ft, so i'm in no rush to find a better solution when the $20 one works this well.
NET is awesome they do loads of HD sports, Husker football, volleyball, etc. Yesterday they were even showing the state high school swimming championship live in hd.
Yes the wizards are annoying but the other comments are bogus. Don't like the keys on your fancy 880? Try stepping down to the 659 that has nice rounded buttons of different shapes and plenty of room between. Second, discrete codes are used, if you have discrete codes for your devices setup thats the first thing it sends out when you hit help.
Jakob, FYI Sony never submitted the Blu-ray standard to the DVD forum.
So does this mean we can only get junky/crippled boxes with our $40 voucher? This sucks.
"Looks like you're forcing me to continually correct your math. As of this writing, there are 378 BD titles available (250 exclusive), with 114 titles announced with solid street dates between now and 2/12/08, whereas HD DVD has 314 titles available, (178 exclusive), with only 63 titles announced with solid street dates between now and 2/12/08."

Sorry thats impossible if so then we would have the number of no exclusives for each:
BD: 378-250=128
HD: 314-178=136
how would these not be equal? Before you start faking numbers at least check them!
It should be noted that per panasonic's website this is for "DTS-HD High Resolution Audio" which is a high bitrate lossy codec, not to be confused with "DTS-HD Master Audio" which is the lossless codec that all Fox titles are in.
It was quite the show of force.

Planet Earth HD DVD peeked at #4 on Amazon, the highest a next gen disc has ever gone (CR only made #7). Lets not forget that this is a $70 title.

Even now two days later HD DVD is still leading Blu-ray in top 10, 25, and 100 sales rank.

I think so many people were saving up for this day that the numbers for the last month may have been artificially low (even though they were dam close to Blu-ray).

How long will HD DVD stay on top now that the king has been dethroned?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
