I have to agree. I've auditioned several BD players over the last year. The Oppo BDP83 via HDMI is on the top of my list. If you require analog, not my first choice as it's analog section is nothing special. As a digital transport, top notch.
Anyone have any insight as it which speakers were used in the blind test to compare against the Paradigms?
Would be nice to win something for a change. :)
Some of you guys are funny.. Champagne taste with beer budgets. Over the past several months some people have been complaining about the price of Bluray players and would buy if it was under $200.00 or less. Here you are.. a $99 player and people are concerned about video quality?? What are you expecting for $99 anyway?
You should check the Triad silver or bronze series. Can't do better for in wall.
Any reason why Engadget stopped using Highdefdigest?
The S550 has multichannel analog out (via 7.1 rca ports) on the back of the player. As the S350 only has analog stereo out. If you have an HDMI 1.1 receiver or prepro, the S350 will do. Also, the S350 didn't ship with profile 2.0 (available through firmware update) I think the S550 shipps with profile 2.0
That's a joke. I'm an owner of a PS3 and the XBOX 360. Honestly, I don't see any value in renting anything from the Sony store and pay $1.99 and $4.99 for HD with Netflix on the horizon for the 360. Considering it's part of your Netflix subscription also makes it easier on the wallet. I'm wondering if Sony would ever consider the Netflix route?
Nice looking unit but 30k? paa-lease... and hdmi 1.1 is just icing on the cake. This think will depreciate by 80% inside of 12 months and at MSRP that's no joke.
That's great but the process to rip movies and try to get them to work in Media Center is not an easy task especially trying to get an extender to read them. Yes, you can make it work but it's a long and unstable process. At least with this, you rip and you're on your way.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
