Instead of "new" or "what's hot" in the App store, this one should be in the category of "over-priced and over-hyped."
Just for the fun of it I went to their website and put my serial number in to see how the discount works. After accepting the serial number it tells me I can purchase the Solo for $129.99 ($10 less than Amazon) or the Pro-HD for $249.99 ($10 more than Amazon). Both are offering free shipping. At least if they gave you a code to use at Amazon or Buy.com I could maybe see it, but this is plain silly.

I would have happily paid $30 for the iPhone App. I would have grumbled a bit and paid $40. To have to pay $159 for the iPhone App (assume $30 plus a $129 solo)....well...I can purchase plenty of iTunes TV content with that amount.

Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail.

Maybe if they would actually release products in the same decade they announce them, Sling wouldn't have to take such dramatic steps to completely piss off their installed base in order to make a couple bucks.

Out of business in two years. Shame.
I will believe it when I download the app from the App store....not a minute before. Sling seems to be the best company ever at pre-announcing stuff. I guess the benefit is they get to announce stuff two or three times because we're likely to forget the first time.
This looks like an ASUS WL-330gE in black, doesn't it? http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=12&l2=41&l3=0&l4=0&model=1710&modelmenu=1

I used to use one on my ReplayTV for streaming. It worked pretty good.
Our elected officials are morons. They should go do something even less useful like adjust daylight savings time....oh wait.
Once it seamlessly integrates with our corporate BlackBerry server, then we'll call it a business phone.
I work in high-end videoconferencing system design. We end up taking into account how our systems will be integrated/installed. Our products have DVI-I output and input, and have for some time. On the input side (primarily for PC connectivity) I would guess the installations are heavily weighted towards analog (VGA to DVI-A) because the majority of our users have VGA outputs on their laptops/PCs. On the output side, things are trending more towards digital when there is a single display involved in the installation, but analog (VGA) when there are multiple displays, primarily because of run length and distribution means. It's harder for resellers and integrators to make money on the expensive cables and DAs, when there are analog choices for considerably less. We're talking about 720p or even WXGA resolutions for most installs so the difference is in the mind of the beholder (IMHO).

So three weeks ago I made the jump from Cox to Verizon FIOS in Fairfax, VA. I switched for a number of reasons (about $40 of them). One of the things I hated on Cox was their Scientific Atlanta DVR. That thing was terrible. Before that I had been using a ReplayTV5504 unit which I loved, but it had no HD. The Scientific Atlanta DVR sucked only a little less than a broken Sanyo VHS recorder. I HATED it. The UI stunk. It was unreliable. Ugh. I switched to Verizon and expected to have the same terrible experience. I have to say that the Motorolla DVR on FIOS is ALMOST as good as my ReplayTV was in useability. In fact, it's getting better every day as they are releasing new features for it (i.e. watch from other rooms). That fact that Cox will have a TiVo based DVR could not be better news for Cox subscribers. But I read on Gizmodo that it was for Cox DVRs made by Motorolla, so Scientific Atlanta DVR users are out-of-luck.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
