Glad to see more write-ins for Ronnie James Dio since I posted my first comment here. I was shocked, shocked I say, to see no write-in entries for Ronnie James
Dio, who would call forth a winged demon to smite all who oppose him.

Entering a contest like this is the very definition of optimism. Yay us.
Poll needs a "Despite Pre-ordering, my copy has been delayed until next week." option.
So did all of you guys posting "yawn...it's smaller, so what?" miss the $100 DOLLAR PRICE DROP! This is why I hate the rumor mill. You blame the company when the rumors aren't true, and when they are you consider it old news.
Oh my god, this thread is so full of misinformation, it would be generous to call it stupid. Seriously, here's what I keep hearing:

"Wow, I'm not paying $100 for that."

This is a patent announcement! Who the hell said it would be $100 or any other price?

"Uh, it's going to be $100 because Apple stuff is, like, way more expensive and stuff."

How many times does this have to be proven factually, empirically wrong until you people will shut up? Some things (BTO RAM, Black on a MacBook for example) are stupidly expensive from Apple, but where are you morons when when Dell charges you $100 for a color, and makes you pay $30 for Bluetooth? The overwhelming majority of Apple's products, especially their consumer products, are priced in-line or even competitively to their competitors. There is no way to validate this opinion with facts.

Every time Apple announces a product, everyone races to prove it's too expensive, then the facts roll in and everyone realizes they're comparing nicely equipped macs with a baseline netbook that has a 4GB hard drive and no wireless.

"I don't eject and it doesn't hurt me."

Wow, I guess if don't get struck by lighting playing golf in a thunderstorm, it must be totally safe.

"Windows doesn't have this problem. Apple just wants to charge you to fix it."

God...just...too stupid to respond.
I would one please, thanks.
"I am unaware of a similar incident where a company would charge for security updates,"

Really? I don't see many security updates coming these days for Tiger. Or Windows 2000 (and no, XP doesn't count...MS still sells XP). And these are systems that cost at least $100 when you bought them.

It's $10 guys, just suck it up. Would you rather they just said that the iPods aren't upgradable? Would that make you feel better?

"That's illegal, right? I know it's on apple's server and all, but seriously!"

When 2.0 came out, we were told by Apple specifically that they are legally required to officially charge for it, but the license it comes with allows you to install it on as many iPods as you like. So I don't think Apple cares too much.
Yeah, keep dreaming guys. It's a fine idea, just as it was back in 2005 when SplashPower was showing off the exact same technology. But you can't even convince all the camera companies to use mini-USB, so there's no way more than a small handful are going to agree to deploy this, and it only make sense if most of your devices are using it.
What's wrong with the mobile web version of Gmail? Oh I don't know how about the fact that labels, which is an INTEGRAL part of using Gmail, is completely absent. I am baffled to no end that Google never includes labels in any interface other than the standard Gmail. Not in iGoogle, not in the mobile version, nothing.

It's infuriating to no end.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
