Not to defend annoying advertising, but the only time I pause is when I leave the room; and if I'm fast-forwarding I'm not savoring the full unadulterated picture and wouldn't much care about some bar ad being there. Seems like that's the best possible place to put an ad -- I'll never notice it or care. I'd be more upset if I were the advertiser.
Maybe we should round up smokers and put them into a chamber and force them to inhale poisonous gas ... oh wait a minute, not necessary ...
To add to previous comments about Austin's Alamo Drafthouse: It's not merely that you can order good food and eat on the counter in front of your seat, or even that they do fun live events. More than that the whole experience is fun, quirky, creative, unique. People deliberately arrive 30 mins early because instead of the usual commodity theater ads-and-trivia crap, Alamo will run a series of old, quirky, campy, or just strange TV or movie clips (always somehow related to the film). Then their don't-talk-during-the-movie PSA is always hilarious in itself, often customized with some Hollywood personality. Among the preshow festivities are ads or announcements inviting you to Alamo's upcoming local events (again, these ads are always locally made and funny). And usually the trailers will include some 30 yr old classic. The preshow spectacle is often better than the movie. The experience is very pleasant and entertaining in many ways that all revolve around doing something cool, different, and creative to please customers -- which of course makes the theater utterly unique (sadly).

"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
