Are you kidding me? I'd buy that for sure. Since this war isn't going to end in the forseeable future, that's a good deal at that price. And then I could become format-agnostic & buy whatever software I like (for 360 add-on or BRD.

Plus I wouldn't have to support the PS3 to get BR.
I'm back. ;-)
I'm just glad my order on 2/5 will finally be filled & shipped.

Owned.
Holy Crap! Matt Burns is back! Welcome back, buddy. Are you going to be on the podcasts anymore? Mr. Blu-Ray needs his nemesis back - and we need some balance. Regardless, it's good to see your name on the by-line again.
C'mon, didn't you read the memo? They changed the name of this place to "EngadgetBRD". That whole "EngadgetHD" thing was just too biased. LOL

What! Tristan & Isolde cancelled/postponed!?! What am I going to do! That's it, the war's over!!!11one
@umopapisdn:

You say that "the PS2 sold more in its initial release than the PS3 sold in its initial release." and also that "the sales of the PS3 NOW versus the sales of the PS2 NOW, certainly the PS2 is winning". The PS2 in 2000-01 sold more than the PS3 will sell in 2006-07 AND that the PS2 is currently outselling the PS3 in 2006-07. Yet you claim that "the PS3 is becoming a more successful machine than the PS2."

I can't reconcile those statements. Also, why is it that I don't recall seeing a PS2 in a store for a year, but I've seen PS3's everytime I step foot into a Target? I know, that's anecdotal but that's been my experience.

This conversation started as just another BRD vs HDDVD yak-fest, but I couldn't just ignore your points.

Did you really just type that? How in the world could you say that?

Wow, just wow.

I agree with the poster who said "the war's not over until one side gives up".
Hey JohnP, see that button on your keyboard that says "Enter"?
If Sony's losing $300 per PS3 sold, I may just go ahead & buy one - If I use it ONLY for BRD's and buy no games or accessories that's one more nail in the Sony console coffin. Sweet!

Viva la Wii60!
Congratulations, Blu-Ray. Even if HD-DVD loses, I'll still be happy with what I invested in my discs & my 360 add-on. I'll just be forced to pony up for a BRD player. PS3 price cuts, where are you?!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
