Thats hilarious because theres no way blu-ray players were outselling HD DVD players prior to that announcemt like the first graph portrays, and that 2nd graph is most likely counting ps3's to make it look that good.. considering that HD DVD players are still by far outselling blu-ray players on amazon.
When I said PSP, I meant to say PS3...
Haha, I just have to laugh that they want to combat HDi with BDj! The worst part of that is that the Java seems to run about 20x slower and more sluggish than HDi unless you have a PSP which is ridiculous. Just the other night I was trying to navigate through the menu system on Resident Evil Extinction Blu-ray, and on my Sharp BD-HP20 player, I seriously had a lag of aboue 3-4 seconds just to move from one item to the next.. how pathetic is this java shit? Just drop BDj and implement HDi now that your winning the format war, geeze! Why settle for the crap version?
Props to whichever admin deleted all of BBG's posts, glad you guys are starting to realize our frustration wtih this guy's presence on the boards! Thanks!
@Ben Alexander,
Wow what a shitty post that just was! Considering that roughly only 200,000 blu-ray standalone players have sold since inception, I HIGHLY doubt that you are selling hundreds of these things so just stop lying.. 2nd, dont say shit that isn't true.. of course every single Toshiba can download the new firmware updates through the ethernet port.. For you to say they dont is just idiotic! Third, that $500 built tough sony you are bragging about is the biggest piece of shit blu-ray player out there! I bought it at costco many months ago and returned it just days later as the stupid thing was the slowest loading blu-ray player out there for any java disc, took between 2-5 minutes to load Crank and a Pirates disc, and not to mention that it drops frames during the movie, I'd have the screen go black for a second with the sound still playing and confirmed on avs forums from many others that I was not the only one, this was just one piece of shit player.. I have not had any of my Toshiba's do such a thing which you claim were built cheap at $99 value.. So take your 16 years of veteran lying bullshit somewhere else dumbass!
Would someone please ban this fucking childish retard BBG? I sware if I have to see anymore of his childish bashing posts that have no merit or anything remotely even worth reading or considering, I'll not want to read through anymore topics just to avoid his retarded ass.. fuckin grow up you dumbshit! Go the fuck away, NO ONE wants you here, probably even your blu-ray fans are embarrased of you!
Wow you guys are just plain stupid! yeah go blu! Go blu! people aren't smart unless they go blu! You wanna talk lack of technological intelligence? Lets talk lack of a 2nd video encoder? Lack of an ethernet port? Lack of any decent interactivty? Yeah your Blu product is SO innovative! yet the one you criticize can be had for 1/3 to 1/2 the cost and provide all those features, but oh wait, it lacks technological intelligence.. you kids really need to grow up!
People like ABC deserve nothing better than a swift kick right in the nuts! Enough said. Just STFU and go play your 3 ps3 games over and over some more and tell yourself that your happy but quit being a little bitch around here and pissing everyone off!
@Devils Advocate,
Lets not forget that there was yet again another BOGO going in the blu-ray camp! Slashed prices always equal more sales, and as long as blu-ray keeps taking all these losses with BOGO's to match HD DVD's big releases, they will continue to pull in big nielson numbers.. perhaps HD DVD should take a lesson from it and combat with some BOGO's of their own and you'll see a HD DVD win on the Nielsons, guaranteed!
Hmmm, I have Charter Communications in Eastern Washington State.. I wonder if this means I'll get the 40 channels as well or if this is completely limited to Las Angeles?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
