For under $75, the SwissGear Synergy has been a great pack for the last year. I don't think it'll fit a 17" laptop, but 15.4" fits fine, and there's a ton of room left for book, clothes, etc. In fact, on short business trips (3 days or less), I can get all my clothes in it as well, making it a great alternative to carrying a second bag. So far its been very durable as well, but I can't speak for it under heavy use.
For $15 you can get the Blue Wave, which comes w/ a small IR remote and USB dongle. Simply program your Harmony to send the IR codes to the USB dongle and you're done. It can't control power, so its not a perfect solution, but at $15 it does almost everything cleanly (the power thing bothers me a bit, but I'm getting up to put a new disk in anyway most times at startup...)
Has Nintendo finally jumped the shark??
The Kuro displays were awesome, particularly the deep blacks, but they were not perfect. Color accuracy was never a strong point - the Panasonics were consistently better in that regard.
I meant to say "who said Palm is stepping on Apple regarding the touch interface"...
Who said Palm is stepping on Palm regarding the touch interface?! It wasn't Cook or Apple, that's for sure. Please read the articles and note that it was the reporter making all those statements, not Apple! People are bashing Apple for something a reporter said. The milqtoast "we'll defend our IP" statement out of Apple is not news!!

Now that I think of it, I'm guessing Palm crafted its response to keep them in the news...
This is a non-story!!

A reporter hounded Cook to say they would defend their IP. Which is the correct response for any company at any time. They all have to defend their IP or risk losing it.

This has been blown up into a "gauntlet thrown", and a battle between two companies, etc.? I have no clue how people can make this into a "big story". Must be a slow news day.
BS. Didn't Apple make a big deal about the new packaging for the 3G iPhone? This looks identical to the old packaging. Plus, the shot with the plug, power adapter and cables looks way too pedestrian to be real Apple packaging. Everything is always wrapped in plastic...
Why didn't they announce this last month at their annual show?! I waited 3 months for Macworld before finally picking up an iPhone, and now they announce the 16GB upgrade conveniently a week outside the 14 day exchange window from the show? I'm a huge Apple fan, but this is B.S. - they should've announced this at the show...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
