n/m, found this Canon camcorder comparison page:

I have a Canon HF11. What's the difference between this HF S11 and mine? (Other than the 64 GB internal storage vs. my 32 GB)

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
You people are all insane.

It's gotta be the Pioneer KRP-500M KURO (9g with some 10g tech) ftw.

Or, if budget allows, the KRP-600M. Hands-down these two models are the best Plasma bargains ever. With the enabling of the ISFcc modes via a cheap firmware patch, these are the greatest value-for-money Plasmas. For under $3000 I got a patched KRP-600M that is the equal of its $4500 "Elite" PRO-141FD cousin.
@hulse_kevin:

I don't think the comparison to the Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR is appropriate. I view them as complimentary.

That box takes Component (or crappier formats) and churns out .m2ts files.

The ElGato takes files and churns out other format files.

While the 1212's output files are suitable for immediate playback via a Networked Media Tank (or VLC, if you're poor) or for Blu-ray authoring, that's about it.

If you want to turn those into something that someone else without a Blu-ray player can watch, then the ElGato comes in handy - it produces (with "HD 1080p" output chosen) .mp4 files with AAC audio that play in both QuickTime Player and VLC.

This device would be great for me, because the 25 Mbps 1080i AVCHD .mts files my Canon HD camcorder produces totally choke VLC on my old 2.16 GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro. They're basically unwatchable unless I can convert them.
I tried it and didn't have as much luck as Mohammad did.

I used simple mode and it created a new .ipsw file that was 10 MB smaller than my original 2.0.2 file. WTF?

When I tried to use it for the Restore, after the initial pop-up message saying it was preparing, I got an "An unknown error (-6) occurred" and it said it couldn't restore it.

Luckily I was able to do a Restore with the original 2.0.2 firmware, so I am back in action - but without a pwned phwn.
"HD DVD will be obviously the winner."

Dewey defeats Truman!

"Truth Teller"? More like "Truth 'Tard".
I wish the airlines would address the REAL issues:

(1) Coach class should not be a cramped cattle car that leaves you with aching sore knees at the end of the flight. American had the right idea with their "Extra room in Coach" concept a couple of years' back.

(2) We don't want to travel through "hubs" - we want to go from A to B directly, whenever possible.

(3) We want to go faster than the speed of sound. My mother flew from Boston to San Francisco in 5 1/2 hours back in the early 70's - we're still stuck there 35 years later. I grew up thinking "2001" was my Possible Future and that I, too, would be flying PanAm (oops) to the Moon for vacations by the time 2010 rolled around (not to mention flying around town in my own jet-pack). While I applaud Burt Rutan and the whole Virgin Galactic concept whole-heartedly, it still doesn't replace the concept of a full-sized SST that mere mortals can afford to travel on. The demise of the Concorde and the lack of any replacement (from Boeing/Airbus/anyone) is a disgrace.
I'm not an iSwitcher, so I suppose I shouldn't be commenting here, but I just wanted to echo Dante Cesa's thoughts as a SonyEricsson owner (S710a; just lost my K790a on a San Francisco beach recently - d'oh!@).

As years go by you get a grip on what's important for you; to me it was a good camera (toting around a Nikon CoolPix 5700 just wasn't an option), and my K790a's 3.2 with flash is clearly better than the iPhone's. SMS'ing has become much more important for me over time; texting on phones with traditional 0-9*# keyboards was beginning to drive me insane. (I tried T9 and to me it was worse than a Newton at spel korecshun) I lept at the chance to try a friend's iPhone the day it came out, only to find that trying to "two-thumb" the iPhone, with the virtual keyboard it kept detecting the outside of my thumbs so it kept registering a key to the left of the one I was trying to press, which also drove me insane. Give me tactile keys I can hit anyday.

Then toss in the other Missing Links with the iPhone - no Java means no SSH client (I'm a Systems Programmer, it's useful to me); no Flash means a lot of "real Web sites" won't work properly; no tethering as a modem for my MacBook Pro means it's useless for those travel situations where (gasp!) there's no wireless/DSL available; crippled BlueTooth/lack of file transfer is highly inconvenient; no 3G (though that's less of an interest to me since there's no 3G coverage where I live presently anyway); and a huge one for me, the fact that it can't be unlocked (I go to Spain every year and love being able to swap in a pre-paid Vodafone SIM once I get over there - I won't accept a phone where I can't do this, and I can do it with my SE's); blah blah ...

Count me as one of the "Hope for the better with iPhone 2.0" types.
I went to Caltech, know very well what a transistor is and am still pondering purchasing an iPhone V2 (i.e., when it comes out in Euro-friendly form with 3G and HSPDA/UTMS). Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it, MobMan.

As for the W910i/W960i - speaking as an existing S710a/K790a owner that likes to use SMS more than talk to people, any phone that doesn't have some sort of QWERTY capability (either via hardware keyboard or virtual/touchscreen version a la the iPhone's, at the very least) is out and out retarded. I will never buy one of these SE phones again, despite the nice jump in features over my K790a.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
