Sonys problem is that that still think quality matters.

Plain and simple americans want BIG and CHEAP. Cable provides and awful signal but they make money by selling the number of channels as opposed to picture quality.

We are in an age of $600 40" lcd displays. When you get tired of your tv or the cheap thing breaks in a year or 2 you throw it out and buy a slightly better one.

This set is AMAZING I got to see the 52" in person. The xvColor really improves the quality of saturated colors. The 120Hz refresh lets you watch 24 frame material at a multiplier of the native frame rate(no 3:2 pull down).

Maybe 10,000 people will want the quality. 10 million people are going to want the size big and price small. Quality is now a niche value in America.

These sets have color and image quality better than dlp and sxrd sets. They rival professional projection(dlp and sxrd).
I really believe that this is the attitude that MS has. It goes along with the "what's wrong with you asia" advertising campaign.

MS beat Sony out of the gate and is now really really confused. Sony has pretty much always regarded nintendo as a dangerous competition. I think that was reinforced by the PSP vs the DS. MS didn't have to compete with nintendo before and regardered them as dead as Sega.

They honestly believe that the sheer mass of games makes their system better. GOW is their best game and it can be completed in a afternoon to evening. MS does not understand depth.

Gamers are more than 14-yo's and "grownups" they have depth andc complexity also. MS truly and fully does NOT understand this and it leaks out of the cracks of redmond in the form of PR like this.
I also think that this article is deceptive. I have yet to get a blu-ray copy of any movie in my cue from netflix. I would wager to say the same is going on for my HD-DVD bretheren.

I believe there is more demand than supply.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
