So, there I was on the toilet choking on my own vomit...
Pretty sure we'll never see an Ishtar remake...
Completely agree on the utility of Transcriva. I had the privilege (?) of transcribing all of my wife's interviews for her dissertation - about 24 hours of audio. Transcriva made it at least bearable!
Holy S*@#!
"I said, TAKE THE DAMN EARBUDS OUT!!"
Most everything prior to college. High school was rough.
Her transformation from socialite to yeti nearly complete, Carrie writes her final, twisted column.
It's a great idea! If you want the votes of folks who don't think more deeply than lower tax = great for me.

It's a horrible idea if you consider that if it initially lowered the price of gas at the pump (debatable since oil companies and station owners are under no obligation to do so) it would most like raise demand (hey, prices are lower, I'll fill up my hummer!). Demand goes up. Supply does not. Price goes up.

You could possibly see a lower price for a few weeks. Followed by another jump. All while taking money out of the transportation departments measly budget and giving it to the oil companies.

So horrible idea. Unless you want a few votes.
I really thought Project Bank Robber would be a hit.
I really must be the luckiest person around, at least in terms of cableCARD. I had heard all of the horror stories but decided I really needed a Tivo HD. I went to my local cable office and made an appointment for installation of a multistream card. The people in the local office were amazingly friendly and made an appointment for the next day. The tech came out and told me, flat out, that he had done about 30 cableCARD installs and only 3 had worked. Put the card in, made the phone call, and it just worked. All the HD channels, both tuners, everything.

So it's possible, at least if the stars are aligned just so.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
